The awareness week on accessibility in football is back
The thirteenth #TotalAccess Week of Action has officially kicked off and will involve all UEFA member associations that have signed up to the project developed by AccessibAll – formerly known as CAFE (Centre for Access to Football in Europe). Supporters, stakeholders, sporting and non-sporting organisations are coming together to celebrate and reaffirm the most inclusive meaning of football, opening its doors to all people with disabilities. This is the first Week of Action since the rebranding of CAFE as AccessibAll, which – as it underlines – is not a mere name change, but a relaunch and renewal of its commitment to promoting the best possible conditions for access and inclusion of people with disabilities in the world’s greatest game.
This groundswell of support for such fundamental issues also includes the San Marino Football Federation, which has always been attentive to providing disabled spectators with the best services and optimal conditions to attend the matches of the Biancazzurri. On the initiative of the FSGC, and warmly welcomed by UEFA, players from San Marino and Romania – before next Monday’s match at the Stadium – will display to the crowd a banner dedicated to the Week of Action (in Italian, “Settimana dell'Azione”). The aim is to shine a spotlight on initiatives dedicated to people with disabilities, and it will also be used at selected fixtures in the upcoming matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese. These games will also feature audio-descriptive commentary, for blind and partially sighted supporters, who will be able to connect free of charge via the Titani.tv platform. At the San Marino Outlet Experience, home to the Fan Village for this match, a Walking Football showcase has been set up. Finally, the support service for blind and deaf fans (with stewards trained in the use of Italian Sign Language – LIS) at San Marino Stadium has been renewed.
Dulcis in fundo, San Marino v Romania will also feature audio-descriptive commentary for blind supporters at the stadium and beyond. The service will in fact also be broadcast on Radio San Marino Classic (103.2 FM), with commentary by Elia Gorini.
