UEFA competitions: Podeschi and Nanni appointed in France and Romania
A Thursday with the UEFA Europa Conference League anthem in the background for Stefano Podeschi, appointed as UEFA Referee Observer for this afternoon’s clash between Rennes and Leicester, the second leg of the Round of 16 in Europe’s third club competition. Podeschi will oversee the performance of the refereeing team led by Greek official Sidiropoulos, in a match that will take place at Roazhon Park in Rennes, kicking off at 18:45.
There is a European assignment underway also for Massimo Nanni. The UEFA Futsal Delegate is currently in Romania to act as a mentor to the Delegate appointed for Group 5 of qualifying for the Under-19 EURO (Main Round). At the City Hall Arena in Târgu Mureș, Slovakia, Georgia and hosts Romania will be in action until tomorrow, while the fourth team originally entered, Russia, has been excluded due to the well-known tragic events. As mentor, Nanni was on duty for Matchday 1, namely yesterday, when the home side defeated Georgia 3-2 at the end of a thrilling encounter packed with drama.
