UEFA Futsal Champions League: Murata heading to North Macedonia
Murata are preparing to defend San Marino futsal’s colours in the continent’s premier club competition. The San Marino champions, represented today in Nyon by Lorenzo Bugli, Nicola Albani and Maria Antonietta Mulazzani, have been drawn into Group A of the Preliminary Qualifying Round of the 2025-26 UEFA Futsal Champions League. The Bianconeri will return to international action seven years on from their sole previous appearance (Jonava, 2018).
Sharing Murata’s group are two familiar opponents for Sammarinese clubs: Armenia’s Yerevan FC (who met Fiorentino in 2023 in a goalless draw) and Andorra’s FC Encamp (Tre Fiori’s opponents in 2017 in another stalemate, this time 1-1 with a goal from Alex Santi). The third team, seeded in pot two and tournament hosts, are Futsal Club FORCA – a completely new name in the European history of Sammarinese futsal.
Looking at the precedents and considering the upward trend of our futsal sides in Europe’s top club competition, Murata will undoubtedly aim at least to match the two third-place finishes achieved by Fiorentino (2023, 2024) and – why not – dream of going even further. The winners of Group A, like those of Group C, will join Ukrainian sides FC Hit Kyiv and FC Aurora Team in the Main Round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League. The Preliminary Round, which directly concerns San Marino champions Murata, will be played in the last week of August.
