UEFA: Zoppis and Rondelli at the CLFS workshop in Limassol
The Licensing Manager Paolo Rondelli and the Deputy Licensing Manager Andrea Zoppis took part, representing the FSGC, in the UEFA Club Licensing & Financial Sustainability (CLFS) workshop in Limassol (Cyprus). From 8 to 10 November, the Mediterranean island hosted the annual meeting organised by UEFA on Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability, which this year celebrated the 20th anniversary of the launch of the programme.

Welcoming the delegates was the President of the Cyprus Football Association, Georgios Koumas, who spoke during the two working days together with the entire staff of the relevant UEFA department, headed by the Head of Club Licensing Ales Zavrl and the Director of Financial Sustainability & Research Andrea Traverso. The programme addressed a number of key issues, such as the amendments to the UEFA Club Licensing Regulations and to the formats of European club competitions – topics that the FSGC representatives will relay to San Marino clubs ahead of the licensing cycle for the 2024-25 season. There was also an important recognition for Licensing Manager Paolo Rondelli, who received an award together with colleagues from other European associations who, like him, are marking 20 years in their role, having been involved since the very start of the programme.
For Andrea Zoppis, this time acting as FSGC Sustainability Officer, it was an especially intense and demanding week in terms of international projects. From 6 to 8 November, at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, he took part in the SES Meeting organised by UEFA and led by Michele Uva (UEFA Social & Environmental Sustainability Director). Following the launch of UEFA’s 2030 Social Responsibility strategy, European associations are now developing those cornerstones internally, creating their own national strategic direction. In this respect, the San Marino FA has proved to be at the forefront, being among the first to publish its own FSR Strategy back in September 2022.
The two-day event was also an opportunity for participants to compare their work and share identified best practices, as well as to get up to speed on new sustainability initiatives and on UEFA’s updated guidelines for the development of sustainable infrastructure, and on circular economy plans. Among the guests was Genoa player Morten Thorsby, a keen advocate of sustainability issues and founder of the #WePlayGreen association. The participation of the FSGC’s Sustainability Officer in this important event confirms how the federation is paying increasing attention to crucial sustainability topics, as also demonstrated by the recent San Marino–Denmark Fan Village, entitled “Sosteniamoci” – whose fil rouge was precisely the theme of sustainability.
