The FSGC was one of four federations to join the Training Campus project devised by Laurent Morel, UEFA Senior Futsal Competitions Manager, to allow the Ukraine women’s futsal national team to prepare for the tournament outside their own country ahead of the crucial European Championship Final Four, scheduled for early July in Gondomar, Portugal. The conflict with Russia has made it impossible for head coach Oleh Shaytanov’s players to train safely. As a result, the football associations of San Marino, Italy, France and Portugal offered to host the four weeks that make up their training camp in the build-up to the final stages of the second UEFA Women’s Futsal Championship. The Ukrainian national team arrived on Monte Titano last Friday, when they also attended the San Marino Futsal Championship final in Fiorentino. Since then, they have alternated an intensive training schedule – mainly on the court of the Multieventi Sport Domus – with excursions around the country. The aim was to enable these players to keep chasing their dream after so many sacrifices and so much suffering. Through the FSGC, our country has provided the Ukrainian national team not only with sports facilities, but also with the very best of its historical, cultural and natural attractions, in full accordance with that spirit of hospitality which has always been the hallmark – and the pride – of the world’s oldest Republic. ©FSGC | Ukraine head coach Shaytanov These were coach Shaytanov’s words: "This is an important phase in our preparation for the Euros. I would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to the San Marino FA for the generous offer to host us and for giving us the chance to start here the journey that will lead us to such an important and prestigious event as the final stage of the European Championship." For the Ukraine national team, which will end its stay in San Marino tomorrow, this is their second consecutive appearance in the Final Four of the continental competition. The FSGC extends its very best wishes to them for this campaign. We are certain that the short time spent as guests of the people of San Marino has helped them feel, as far as possible, at home. Above all, we hope that this senseless conflict will soon come to an end, restoring an atmosphere of peace, respect and sharing of cultural values, of which sport has always been a shining example, even if – unfortunately – not always a followed one.
