Under-18 National Team: comeback win for the Titani against Welsh Schools

The Under-18 National Team produced an excellent response at the international tournament "Roma Caput Mundi". After yesterday’s defeat to Danish side Lingby, Cancelli’s Titani came from behind this afternoon to beat the Welsh Schools F.A., earning their first three points in Group B. The first half of the match – played at the "Roberto del Bianco" Stadium in Anagni – went the way of the Welsh, who took the lead on 13 minutes through Ievan Owen, finishing off a swift counter-attack. After the break, San Marino reacted and early on struck the outside of the post through Tommy Cervellini. It was the prelude to the Titani’s goal, which arrived shortly afterwards: a cross from the left by Alberto Riccardi picked out the run of Nicolas Giacopetti, who brought the ball under control and placed it inside the near post. It’s a great spell for the young San Marino Academy Under-22 forward who, after Saturday’s league brace, also finds the net in the national team shirt. The goal energised Cancelli’s youngsters, who five minutes later scored the winner: Enea Della Balda – on for Pasolini – won a penalty, and Gabriel Capicchioni stepped up to the spot and made no mistake. The Under-18 National Team will rest tomorrow, then on Thursday 29 they will be back in action for their third match of the tournament: kick-off at 14:30 at the "Liri" against Canadian side Markham.
