Under-18 National Team: Titans one step away from the "Roma Caput Mundi" final

Another good performance from the Under-18 National Team was not enough to reach the final of the international tournament "Roma Caput Mundi". In the last match of Group B, played last Thursday at the "Liri" Stadium in Monte San Giovanni Campano, the Titans went out only on penalties in the clash with Canadian side Markham. Cancelli’s Titans went in front in the first half thanks to a goal by Alberto Riccardi. In the second half, however, the Canadians found the equaliser through Colin Pate. The match was therefore decided from the spot, where Eric Nelson’s team held their nerve: the Canadians were flawless from eleven metres, scoring through Shaik, Pate, Zhang and Tapalaga. The Titans, despite successful kicks from Giacopetti and Giulio Bugli, paid for the misses from the spot by Forcellini and Enea Della Balda. The tournament was eventually won by Welsh side Welsh Schools F.A., whom San Marino had defeated 2-1 on the second matchday.
