Under-21, EURO 2025: Norway in town for home debut, live on Titani.TV

Just short of a summer later, the Under-21 National Team is ready to pick up the thread of EURO 2025 qualifying. On 20 June the young Biancazzurri kicked off their campaign away to Latvia. Today they are preparing instead for their home debut. Their opponents will be Norway, who are yet to play their first match in this qualifying cycle and are coming off the final stages of the last continental competition, in which they shared a group with Italy – also San Marino’s travelling companion on the road to Slovakia 2025. “We come into this important fixture in good shape,” says head coach Matteo Cecchetti. “All the players called up have had at least five weeks of work with their clubs and during our training camps. Of course, we are still missing the feel of a competitive match and perhaps that is the main unknown. However, I trust in the heart of these lads and in the adrenaline that a match like this, against very strong opposition, can give them. I’m sure they won’t give up an inch until the final whistle.” First ever call-up for Matteo Battistini, Samuele Severi and Simone Giocondi, a winger born in 2002 who recently moved to the Republic from Tivoli. With far more caps to his name is Andrea Contadini. “We’ve been working hard for many weeks to prepare for this match, looking after every detail thanks to our staff,” explains the young Titans’ captain. “The match with Latvia was a sort of warm-up and in my opinion we played well. Now we go again against Norway, a difficult opponent, especially in terms of physicality. We will try to put into practice what the coach asks of us, giving everything as always. On top of that, we’ll have our home crowd back after last November’s friendly with Albania and we obviously want to make a good impression.” Marco Pasolini will be unavailable after being sent off in Latvia. Following the match with Norway, Matteo Cecchetti and his players will complete this opening pair of fixtures with a trip to Ireland next Tuesday in Cork. Tomorrow’s kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.
