Under-21: the Titans restart against Kosovo. Cecchetti: “The team is ready and motivated”

The first team to open the new UEFA window will be the San Marino Under-21 National Team, who tomorrow evening will face Kosovo in a new match valid for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers. The Titans coached by head coach Matteo Cecchetti will take to the pitch at 20:30 at the San Marino Stadium against the Balkan side they already met a few months ago in Pristina.

“I’ve found the lads ready and motivated – says the coach – despite these being the last matches of the campaign. There’s a great atmosphere in the dressing room. Over these days they have all worked very well, and this has made it difficult for me and the staff to choose the 23 players to call up.”

Tomorrow Kosovo arrive at the Stadium, with the Balkan side now almost out of contention for qualification.

“We know that at this level no one gives you anything. The first leg was a complicated match, also because of our own shortcomings. The boys have a real desire to bounce back. Kosovo are a quality opponent who combine physicality and technique. We know we can do better. In our recent outings against Finland and Romania we improved a lot. We must continue along this path, and if we do, results will come.”

After Kosovo, San Marino will face Spain in a week’s time – again at home at the Stadium – and will then fly to Nicosia to take on Cyprus, a match that will complete Group A of the European Championship qualifiers.

“This new window – continues Cecchetti – has allowed the boys to have more fuel in their legs by working with their clubs. On the other hand, playing three matches in just over two weeks is something new. We are trying to take care of every detail so we can give our maximum right to the end.”

Tomorrow’s match between the San Marino Under-21 National Team and their counterparts from Kosovo will also be broadcast live via streaming on Titani.tv and on San Marino RTV.
