Futsal: Cosmos-Virtus to be the second indoor fixture, two head-to-head clashes heat up Monday
First one league leader, then the other. That is the – hardly enviable – schedule facing Cailungo across the seven days separating their 16th matchday fixture – played indoors – from their 17th. After the heavy defeat suffered against Fiorentino, Bollini’s men will be chasing an extremely difficult response against Folgore, who so far – just like the Rossoblù – have yet to lose, and have in fact won every league game except the direct clash, which ended in a draw. The Rossoverdi and the Giallorossoneri will meet tomorrow evening in the first of the two matches in Acquaviva. On the same court, at 21:45, it will be Tre Penne against La Fiorita. The Gialloblù have seen their winning streak come to an end but cannot be unhappy with the draw snatched from Tre Fiori – the group’s third-placed side – in the dying minutes of a contest that produced several “casualties” on the disciplinary front. One of these is Fabio Belloni, booked while already one caution away from suspension and therefore ruled out of tomorrow’s game against a Tre Penne side coming off a long run of defeats and desperately needing to change gear if they are to re-establish a safe gap between themselves and third from bottom, one of the positions that rule you out of the post-season.
Tre Penne’s latest defeat came against Domagnano, who, by also winning their rescheduled 15th matchday game with Pennarossa, made a significant leap up the table, drawing level with La Fiorita and Virtus and moving within striking distance of the bottom step of the podium currently occupied by Tre Fiori. And it is precisely Tre Fiori who the Wolves will have to face tomorrow evening in the first match in Dogana. It will be a direct showdown with a great deal at stake: in the reverse fixture Domagnano lost 1-0 and now aim to close the gap even further in an area of the table offering enticing post-season prospects, and which is becoming hotter and more crowded by the week. Alongside the aforementioned Virtus and La Fiorita, Juvenes-Dogana will also be watching very closely, slightly adrift but still firmly in the running for the top four. Tre Fiori will be without Mariotti – starting a three-match ban following his sending-off against La Fiorita – and captain Boschi.
Juvenes-Dogana are coming off their rest round and, before that, defeat to Fiorentino. The Biancorossoazzurri will be chasing both redemption – and a climb up the table – in their meeting with San Giovanni, who likewise need to react after two consecutive losses that have dragged the Rossoneri back towards the less noble part of the standings, the one to be avoided at all costs. Here too a captain will be missing: Davide Agostini, sidelined by the Sports Judge due to yellow-card accumulation. The other side involved in the fierce scrap for third and fourth place is Virtus, who will be seeking a fourth straight win when they face Cosmos in the late kick-off, the second game scheduled on the Multieventi court. On the other side, the Gialloverdi will hope to rediscover a victory that has been missing since 5 December. Since then they have suffered five defeats, which have dropped Muccioli’s men to second from bottom, although not too far adrift of the safety zone. The bad news for Pollini is the suspension of Paolo Casadei – scorer of all three goals in the win over Libertas.
After inaugurating the Multieventi as a venue also designated to host Campionato Sammarinese futsal fixtures, Fiorentino are preparing to return outdoors. More precisely, the co-leaders will take to the pitch in the facility located in their own Castello, where they will host Pennarossa who – in league terms – are sailing in calm waters but eager to put behind them the comeback defeat suffered against Domagnano, even if the 17th matchday assignment does not look among the easiest for Antonino Guidi and his team-mates. Rounding off the second matchday of the return round is the head‑to‑head clash between Murata and Faetano, separated by just a single point down in the area of the table from which everyone would like to stay as far away as possible. And it is with this mindset that Corbelli’s and Cellarosi’s sides are preparing for a contest that will have more than three points on the line. Murata, for their part, are on a positive run and are coming off the very first victory of the Cellarosi era: the desire to keep collecting points – and to set their sights on Libertas, who have a rest round – is the driving force that will spur the Bianconeri in a duel against opponents who, by contrast, urgently need to change course after six consecutive defeats. The game will be played in Dogana.
