BKN301 Championship: matchday 27 kicks off tomorrow, Tre Penne v Cosmos is almost a final
As is well known, from this season onwards the BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese no longer has a Scudetto final. Even so, something very similar is exactly what will capture the attention of fans and enthusiasts tomorrow evening. Just four days after being "knocked off" top spot, Cosmos will face Tre Penne in a showdown that will say a great deal about the race for the title and for the Champions League. Whoever wins still won’t be able to pop the sparkling wine just yet: there will still be another 270 minutes theoretically capable of overturning the hierarchy. What is certain is that the head‑to‑head (the first meeting was won 1-0 by Cosmos thanks to Pastorelli) will award a big slice of the Scudetto and could also have a major psychological impact. Moreover, should Tre Penne come out on top, a four‑point gap would open up, forcing Cosmos into an almost desperate comeback, given the limited time remaining and a run‑in which, on the basis of the current table, smiles more on Ceci’s men than on Berardi’s, who must also face Tre Fiori in the final stretch of the season.
All or almost all in one night, then, with Cosmos having to do without one of their key men, Simone Errico, suspended after the yellow card picked up against Virtus. The big showdown, scheduled for tomorrow evening in Montecchio, will be refereed by Giacomo Cenci, assisted by international officials Ercolani and Cristiano. With Tre Fiori idle, La Fiorita can sense the opportunity to move into third place on their own, currently shared precisely with the side coached by former boss Andy Selva. Montegiardino will have to deal with Murata, fresh from getting back to winning ways against Cailungo and still in need of points to put a safe distance between themselves and the "dark" zone. On one side, Fabio Vitaioli and coach Giuseppe Angelini will be missing through suspension; on the other, Nicola Palazzi. Level on points with Murata are Domagnano, who must respond to a dire spell of four straight defeats, the latest against Libertas. The Wolves will take on San Giovanni in what can easily be described as a direct clash, given that just a single point separates the two sides. Tognacci’s team – who will be without the suspended Giacomo Conti – are also chasing a reaction after a period of poor results.
In stark contrast, the closing stretch of the season has been very bright for Juvenes-Dogana. Amati’s men come into this round off the back of a comprehensive win over Pennarossa and, more generally, three victories and a draw from their last four outings. That run has allowed them to climb into mid‑table and set their sights on Folgore, who are just two points ahead. However, the task for the Biancorossoazzurri on matchday 27 is not an easy one, as they will be up against a Libertas side that has managed to stem its points haemorrhage (one draw and two defeats before beating Domagnano) and now wants at the very least to nail down sixth place, with any realistic ambition of catching a Virtus side ten points clear out of reach. Floriano Sperindio will miss the match, having been suspended by the Sports Judge. Like him, goalkeeper Zavoli is also ruled out.
We have already mentioned a Folgore side being pressed by Juvenes-Dogana. The giallorossoneri have given fresh air to their league position after three straight defeats thanks to their victory over Cailungo prior to their rest week. Now, on the road to consolidation, Lepri’s men face a decidedly tricky hurdle in Virtus, cup finalists and recently capable of stopping league leaders Cosmos. Whether it will be the giallorossoneri’s desire to protect seventh place or the neroverdi’s will to play their last cards in the race to climb the table (with La Fiorita and Tre Fiori both six points ahead) that prevails will only be clear at the final whistle of Thursday’s clash in Acquaviva. In Domagnano, meanwhile, Fiorentino and Pennarossa will go head‑to‑head, both caught up in the crowded battle to avoid the bottom four places and therefore fighting for three points of considerable weight. A heavy absentee for Fiorentino, who will be without their leading scorer Torsani. On the other side, Berretti will miss out. At present, the Chiesanuova‑based side are two points better off than the rossoblù, who are second from bottom between Faetano (+1) and Cailungo (-5).
Those two sides will now face each other in a match that for Cailungo has all the hallmarks of a very last chance. And given the Rossoverdi’s highly precarious position in the table, that will remain the case right to the end of the season, even in the event of victory over Faetano. The Borgo Maggiore side will be without coach Protti for the next three matchdays: that is the decision handed down by the Sports Judge following events in Murata-Cailungo. Captain Manuel Iuzzolino will also be absent on Thursday. On the other side, Della Valle, Terenzi and Pini are unavailable. That said, Cailungo cannot afford to do any calculations but must focus exclusively on winning, also hoping that someone else starts to slide downwards. Faetano, for their part, are in a stronger position to grab a post‑season berth, although Girolomoni’s men likewise cannot afford too many slip‑ups. Murata’s match with La Fiorita and the direct clashes between Domagnano and San Giovanni and between Pennarossa and Fiorentino open up interesting scenarios for the gialloblù, who are also driven by a desire for revenge after the 3-0 defeat suffered in the "Marano derby."
Here is the fixture list for matchday 27, all of which – as always – will be broadcast live on Titani.TV:
