Campionato: Faetano leave it late, Folgore and Cailungo get the job done

There was certainly no lack of entertainment in Domagnano-Faetano, where Ricchiuti’s side ultimately prevailed with a winner deep into added time. In the afternoon of the 24th day of the Campionato Sammarinese, the match at the "Crescentini" in Fiorentino was lively right from the off. The deadlock was broken on 9 minutes in favour of the Gialloblu thanks to a superb Brisigotti free-kick that left Colonna with no chance. Domagnano replied immediately with Ferraro rattling the post in the 9th minute. The Giallorossi pushed on and, a quarter of an hour in, found the equaliser: a cross from the left by Perazzini picked out Moscardi, who met it first time on the volley in the six-yard box, catching Forconesi out. Parity held until half-time but on 51 minutes Faetano got their noses back in front. Festa Gallo won a great ball on the edge of the Giallorossi area, nipping in ahead of Fusco before shooting at goal; Colonna got a touch and the ball looped towards the goal line, Parma slid in to clear but Maltese referee Daniel Portelli judged that the ball had crossed the line – despite the strong protests of the Giallorossi defender. The goal fired Faetano up and they immediately went in search of a two-goal cushion: Lisi slalomed into the box and shot, but Colonna was equal to it; the rebound fell to Dulcetti, yet the San Marino goalkeeper produced a stunning save to deny the 3-1. The game remained on a knife edge right into stoppage time. In the 91st minute Domagnano’s late surge brought the Wolves level: Ferraro’s effort was beaten away by Forconesi, but Moscardi followed up to bag his brace and make it 2-2. The drama was not over, though: within seconds Merendinoalready booked – brought down Lisi. Portelli showed no leniency and sent off the Giallorossi defender. From the resulting free-kick, dead-ball specialist Brisigotti also completed his brace – again from a set piece – and sent his team wild with the decisive 3-2. It is a second consecutive win – and a fourth in the last five – for Ricchiuti’s Faetano, who further consolidate their place in the play-off zone. Cailungo also return to winning ways, scoring once in each half to see off a Fiorentino side who have not tasted victory for seven rounds (since 25 January). The Rossoverdi were the better side in the first half, inspired in particular by an in-form Labas who, around the half-hour mark, began to find his range against Simone Benedettini’s goal, even trying a delightful back-heel from the edge of the box that shaved the post. Cailungo managed to break the deadlock on 36 minutes: a flicked header from Hirsch in the final third released Labas, who produced a piece of magic to skip past Gueye and, once in front of Benedettini, coolly slotted for 1-0. The Rossoverdi were not satisfied and chased a second, but on 39 minutes Benedettini pulled off a fine save to deny Gimenez. Cailungo kept up the pressure after the break, while Fiorentino failed to muster a reaction; in fact it took another outstanding stop from Benedettini on Gjyla to keep it at 1-0. The second goal did arrive, though, shortly before the 90th minute to rubber-stamp a fully deserved victory for the Rossoverdi. The ever-influential Labas played a through ball for Costa who, once in the box, brought it under control and, with great determination, managed to score despite the attempts of Bottoni and Benedettini. The clash between Pennarossa and Libertas, on the other hand, finished all square. After a first half short on excitement – the only real highlight a fine reflex save from Manzaroli to deny Cobo on 39 minutes – the goals arrived after the restart. The game opened up just before the hour mark (58’) and it was Pennarossa who found the net: Zenoni played the ball inside to Pintore who controlled it on the edge of the box, spun and got his shot away quickly, placing it perfectly in the corner where former team-mate Del Prete could not reach. Libertas responded ten minutes later and found the leveller. A cross from the left by Moretti picked out Buturca, who sent it back into the middle using his shoulder, no less, setting up Pullara, who headed in for 1-1. Shortly after the fine move that brought the equaliser, Pullara tried to put his side in front with a great piece of play down the left, ending with a good strike at Del Prete’s goal, but the keeper stood firm. Little of note happened thereafter, and so the two teams each take home a point that nudges both of them up the table – with Pennarossa temporarily climbing above Academy, dropping them to bottom spot (the Titani are in action tomorrow against Virtus). After the setback against Virtus, Folgore returned to winning ways and, thanks to a 1-0 over Murata, hold on to third place. In the 18:00 kick-off in Montecchio, the first half ended with the Falciano club deservedly in front. After some promising early attempts, Lasagni’s side managed to break through on the half-hour mark: Adami Martins made it 1-0, skipping past a Bianconeri defender and beating Martinez with a powerful right-footed strike from inside the box. After the break, the hour mark brought two red cards in quick succession. Following a clash between the two number tens, Echel and Cateni, tempers flared. Albani restored order and decided to send off Sartori and Tomassoni. Play resumed ten against ten. The match remained finely balanced and Murata grew into it, threatening through chances for Salemme, Echel and Ricci, but without success. In the closing stages things got even tougher for Camillini’s men when Delvecchio protested too vehemently after a coming together with Pancotti, prompting Albani to brandish a red card for the Bianconeri player as well – leaving them down to nine. Folgore held firm and, after 4 minutes of added time, could celebrate. It is a difficult spell for Murata, now on a run of three straight defeats.
