BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese: four leaders out to prove their credentials

The first two matchdays of the league season have produced a group of four sides sitting on six points. One of them, Tre Fiori, will have the honour of kicking off Matchday 3 of the BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese. As in the previous two rounds, the early fixture will be played on Friday: Selva’s Gialloblù will be looking to confirm their form at the expense of a Cailungo side who, for their part, have also had a perfect record so far – albeit the exact opposite of their opponents’ this evening. Protti’s men will be tasked with trying to break their duck in one of the most difficult tests that Sammarinese football can currently offer them. The match, to be refereed by Borriello, will be played in Acquaviva, which was also the venue for Tre Fiori’s first trophy of the season, the Supercup final. There will be no early kick-off for the red-and-greens’ Juri Biordi, who must serve the first of a two-match ban picked up in the game against Tre Penne. Cosmos will also be out to defend their place at the top, facing Faetano in one of Saturday’s fixtures, on a card expanded to four matches compared with the three of the opening two rounds. In Montecchio, Berardi’s men will come up against a Gialloblù side who came close to collecting their first points against Libertas, only to be pegged back by the Granata after taking the lead through Fall, not helped by the sending-off of Gianluca Ferrario, who will therefore miss the clash with the Gialloverdi from Serravalle. Vandi will take charge of this match, while in Domagnano the referee’s whistle will be in the hands of Avoni. There, two sides hungry for redemption will meet: Virtus will certainly want to make up for the comeback suffered against Tre Fiori, which halted Bizzotto’s men after their opening-day victory. Fiorentino, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win and, after sitting out last weekend, will be looking for a result that can unlock their position in the table. Acquaviva will also stage what is likely to be the most intriguing clash of the entire weekend, between a Folgore side still struggling to find conviction and goals (their Giallorossoneri attack has yet to get off the mark), but who only surrendered to La Fiorita in the final stages last week, and a Pennarossa outfit who have started with a strong tailwind and are chasing a third win in as many games, pinning their hopes, among others, on Mohamed Ben Kacem. The forward has clearly settled in perfectly at his new club, as his start to the campaign shows more goals than games played – three in two outings. Whether the current joint-top scorer in the league (level with Prandelli of Cosmos and Merli of Juvenes-Dogana) can leave his mark again in his third league appearance is something we will discover on Saturday, in a match entrusted to referee Ucini. The other fixture scheduled for 17 September pits La Fiorita against Juvenes-Dogana. The Gialloblù have begun their title defence in the best possible way, even if their most recent outing, against Folgore, was decided only at the death. In any case, Oscar Lasagni’s side can draw strength from a defence that has so far been completely unbreachable (Montegiardino have yet to concede in 180 minutes), while Juvenes-Dogana may have let in a few more but have also showcased a more inspired attack, led by the in-form Davide Merli who, like Ben Kacem, has scored three goals in two games and will be looking for further confirmation in what is certainly one of the sternest tests in our league. Amati’s side remain unbeaten, having followed up their emphatic opening victory with a 1-1 draw against Domagnano. Ilie will referee. On the same pitch as La Fiorita – Juvenes-Dogana, namely in Fiorentino, one of Sunday’s two late fixtures will take place. The only certainty is that at least one of San Giovanni and Murata will get off the mark: both sides have only known defeat so far, and the opportunity is a big one for both the Bianconeri and the Rossoneri to finally kick-start their climb up the table. Andruccioli will officiate. Finally, there is the clash between Tre Penne, who made an impressive start after their rest day on the opening weekend, and Domagnano, who collected their first point of the season last time out and will be eager to continue along that path despite facing one of the toughest opponents the fixture list can throw at them. In Montecchio, former Tre Penne player Luca Ceccaroli will be absent, having been handed a two-match ban by the Sports Judge following events in the match against Cailungo. Zani will referee.
