Coppa Titano, thoughts ahead of the final
Omar Lepri and Gian Luca Borgagni agree that Saturday night's clash at San Marino Stadium (30 April, 8:45 pm) will be a completely different story from the very recent meeting between the two sides – which saw Folgore put four past the Gialloblù. "The relevance of that match in relation to Saturday's final – stresses Lepri – is close to zero. Like many other teams, we have suffered more than one injury over the course of the season. The latest are Garcia and Rosini (the centre-back has suffered a cruciate ligament rupture, ed.) who will not be involved. It has been a difficult year, the lads have done an outstanding job and they have earned and deserved this final." His counterpart Borgagni, exactly two months on from his arrival on the Tre Fiori bench, identifies the group as the main strength of his Tre Fiori side: "The technical legacy of the squad previously coached by Cecchetti and Sperindio was of the highest standard, and our Sammarinese players have also shown outstanding qualities, which emerged in particular in the two great semi-final matches against La Fiorita. Despite a few minor problems and a couple of below-par performances, the value of this group came to the fore – rewarded by two games played to the best of our ability. We are delighted to have the chance to play this final."
For Folgore this will be a third consecutive final, after those in the Campionato and the Supercoppa. Has the dominance of the Tre Penne-La Fiorita duo been broken? According to Lorenzo Dormi, "lately you often hear Tre Fiori, La Fiorita or Tre Penne mentioned as favourites, while Folgore is often pushed into the background. Over these years we have shown that we can compete for something important and we are absolutely delighted about that." But can Folgore be considered an outsider? Luca Censoni replies as follows: "Absolutely not. Folgore are a top side, made up of players of the highest level who can make the difference at any moment. It is normal to go through highs and lows over the course of a long, demanding season; perhaps we have been a little luckier than them in certain situations, but in the end they are in the Coppa Titano final and in the play-offs of the Campionato Sammarinese. Both teams are still fighting on all fronts, there is still a lot to play for and to be decided."
The match will be played on the evening of Saturday 30 April 2022, kicking off at 8:45 pm at the San Marino Stadium. The referee will be Marco Avoni, assisted by Gianmarco Ercolani and Ernesto Cristiano. The fourth official will be Giacomo Cenci. The final will be broadcast live on San Marino RTV (ch. 831 DTT) and San Marino RTV (ch. 93 DTT). Tickets, still available, can be purchased tomorrow afternoon at the Federal Secretariat, at Vivaticket sales points in Italy and San Marino, as well as online on the Vivaticket platform (click here). Online purchase will also be possible on matchday, when – from 7:00 pm – the ticket office at San Marino Stadium, located at the entrance to the North Stand, will also be open.
