Federal elections: Tura confirmed as President for a third consecutive term
Convened last night to elect the President and the eight members of the FSGC Federal Council, the Federal Assembly renewed its confidence in Marco Tura for a third consecutive term – keeping him at the helm of the San Marino Football Federation for a further four years, having first taken office in 2017.
The evening, opened by a speech from Tura himself, was attended by representatives of UEFA and FIFA. In his dual capacity as FIGC President and UEFA Vice President, Gabriele Gravina addressed the Federal Assembly – and took the opportunity to highlight the excellent relations between the Italian and San Marino football associations, which are at the root of many fruitful synergies. Also present for the European confederation were Thierry Favre and Valentina Mercolli, while Marco Ferri represented FIFA – and likewise offered a brief address to the Federal Assembly.
Once the administrative formalities had been completed – culminating in the approval of the 2024 final accounts and the 2025 budget – the Federal Assembly resolved to confirm Marco Cevoli, on the proposal of the outgoing Federal Council, as Sole Auditor. The electoral procedures then got underway, starting with the race for the Presidency, for which two candidates stood: Marco Tura and Matteo Mazza. There were 72 eligible voters in the room and, in the first round, Tura came close to the two-thirds majority (46 votes) that would have guaranteed his immediate re-election. The verdict was therefore postponed by a few minutes, to a second ballot where a simple majority was sufficient: Tura was thus confirmed for a third consecutive term as President of the San Marino Football Federation (48 votes), ahead of Matteo Mazza (24).
The final step concerned the eight seats on the Federal Council. With two positions already set to change hands (Bevitori and Canini had formally withdrawn their candidacies), the FSGC’s executive body will in fact see one further change. Those who gained the confidence of the Elective Assembly and were consequently confirmed from the previous term are: Luigi Zafferani (49 votes), Simone Grana (48), Luca Albani (44), Filippo Bronzetti (44), Gian Luca Angelini (36). The new entries are Giacomo Simoncini (39), Luca Nanni (38) and Pierangelo Manzaroli (34). An equal number of candidates failed to secure election, in order of votes received: Primo Moretti (33), Jessica Guidi (32, outgoing), William Guerra (23), Patrizia Bellavista (19), Maximiliano Gobbi (18), Stefano Semprini (16), Michele Della Valle (11), Massimo Zavatta (10).
