FSGC and Titanus Museum present: "Defying the Impossible. The Incredible Story of San Marino Football"
The fruitful collaboration between the San Marino Football Federation and the Titanus Museum has led to the creation of a multimedia work entitled: "Defying the Impossible. The Incredible Story of San Marino Football".
From 14 November it is possible to experience an immersive and engaging journey through all the key stages in the development of football in the Republic of San Marino. From the very first steps, around a century ago, right up to the present day and passing – of course – through the milestones: the rise of Massimo Bonini, the debuts of clubs and the National Team in European competitions, the victory over Liechtenstein and the records achieved within and beyond national borders.
Everything is presented in an innovative production featuring voice-overs, testimonies from the main protagonists, videos, photos and multimedia materials to explore the century-long history of football in the Republic of San Marino. It is an almost unmissable event for fans and supporters of the San Marino game, but also a wonderful opportunity for the many tourists who have come into contact with our country through the international fixtures of its national football team.
Alongside the extraordinary multimedia work there is also a section displaying significant memorabilia from San Marino football – allowing visitors to get up close (almost hands-on) with authentic pieces of the puzzle that make up an “incredible” story of sport, people and challenges spanning more than 93 years. In addition, in the Museum’s Corner Shop, a dedicated area has been set up for official clothing, accessories and merchandise of the San Marino Football Federation.
This is how FSGC President Marco Tura commented on the sidelines of the exhibition’s inauguration, held yesterday afternoon: “Today we are unveiling a project in which we strongly believed, realised with the contribution and expertise of the Titanus Museum, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks: a narration of the history of football in our Republic, with archive photographs and footage, from the first few pitches trodden by the youngsters of the 1930s to the international commitments and events that followed. A work of outstanding quality which, in addition to focusing on the history of the San Marino National Team, also shines a light on the other actors involved in the Federation’s world: from the clubs to the San Marino Academy with its many activities.”
For Dennis Guerra, President of the Titanus Museum, “the project with the Football Federation is a testament to the founding principles of the Titanus Museum: telling the story of our Republic, its history and its distinctive features in an engaging, dynamic and immersive way, open to the contribution of San Marino society and its protagonists. It is a project which, in addition to being constantly evolving, is greatly appreciated by visitors. When, as they leave, they tell us that they used to see San Marino as an Italian ‘anomaly’ on Italian soil and now, instead, they see it as a land that has always been free and proud, which it truly is, we are filled with pride.”
“The cultural sphere, including museums, and the world of sport are fundamental pillars for the wellbeing of the community – stated the Secretary of State for Culture, Teodoro Lonfernini – and when synergy manages to give life to initiatives such as the one that from today will be open to the public, we can say that it represents an enrichment for the whole community. Thanks to the FSGC for bringing this initiative to life and thanks to the Titanus Museum for continuing to serve the community. There are still many distinctive aspects of our country that can be shared with the public; I hope that further synergies will be consolidated and that other projects can take shape.”
“The Secretariat of State for Sport warmly welcomes the initiative of the San Marino Football Federation and the Titanus Museum, which opens up a new perspective on San Marino football. The Multimedia Museum offers content collected from enthusiasts, historians and the entire football community, eager to pay tribute to the rich and fascinating history of the biancoazzurri. A museum that stands as a beacon of passion for this sport, ready to tell stories and inspire new generations of players and fans.” – concluded the Secretary of State for Sport, Rossano Fabbri.
