The San Marino Football Federation also accepted FIFA's invitation to take part in the Women's Football Convention 2023, held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney. In the Australian metropolis since 18 August, Secretary General Luigi Zafferani, together with Vice President Simone Grana and Jessica Guidi, represented the FSGC Federal Council at this important event. The topic of the global development of women’s football was discussed by leaders from the world of football as well as from the business and social spheres, all involved in a product which – figures in hand – is generating ever-growing interest. The second edition of the FIFA Women's Football Convention (18-19 August 2023) "capitalised on the enthusiasm and euphoria generated by the biggest-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup" – in FIFA’s own words. In the heart of Sydney, the debate developed from the contributions of outstanding speakers and revolved around five key themes: 1) Develop and grow; 2) Educate and empower; 3) Govern and lead; 4) Communicate and commercialise; 5) Showcase women’s football. These are also the five pillars of the FIFA Women's Football Strategy. Opening the convention, launched by a welcome from Australian Sports Minister Hanika Wells, FIFA President Gianni Infantino addressed the delegates with an introduction focused on a FIFA Women’s World Cup in the midst of transformation, as evidenced by rapid growth both on and off the pitch and by the record-breaking figures achieved by the edition hosted by Australia and New Zealand. "The changes to the World Cup format and FIFA’s investments in the growth of women’s football have proved their worth," Infantino affirmed. "The Women’s World Cup generated over half a billion US dollars in revenue, attracted almost two million spectators in the stadiums and surpassed one billion television viewers worldwide. This World Cup has been a turning point – Infantino concluded –, not only for Australia or New Zealand, but on a global scale."
