Futsal: Domagnano stand in the leaders’ way

The futsal new year kicks off with Matchday 13 of the league. La Fiorita, who slipped to third place before the Christmas break, will be looking for an immediate reaction against Juvenes-Dogana, another side coming off a defeat that has seen them lose ground in the table. The 3-2 comeback loss to Virtus cost Levani’s team their place ahead of the Neroverdi themselves, as well as further distancing them from the pair of Murata and Domagnano, level in fifth place. La Fiorita, meanwhile, have dropped from first to third, overtaken by Folgore, who tomorrow will cross paths with San Giovanni, one of the two bottom clubs in the Single Group. The clash between the Giallorossoneri and the Rossoneri will be the first of two matches being played in Domagnano. The second will see Libertas face Murata, both sides seeking to extend the positive runs built on back-to-back wins at the end of 2023. In Fiorentino, after Juvenes-Dogana – La Fiorita, it will be Fiorentino and Domagnano taking to the court. Overall, it will be the highest-profile encounter of those on the Matchday 13 schedule. The Rossoblù league leaders, who so far boast a perfect record, are aiming to start 2024 in the same vein in which they closed out last year. Domagnano, themselves coming off two consecutive victories, are also chasing further confirmation. It will not be an easy task for Gasperoni’s side, who can nonetheless draw useful insights in preparing the match from the two meetings already played this season between the Wolves and the reigning champions, namely the Titano Futsal Cup quarter-final ties. Cailungo and Virtus will get the evening underway in Dogana. The Rossoverdi – bottom alongside San Giovanni – absolutely need to rediscover a win, the only one so far, which dates back to Matchday 3, while the Neroverdi, buoyed by their victory over Juvenes-Dogana just before Christmas, are targeting the full three points and hoping for a slip-up from Murata and Domagnano, who are only two points ahead of Pollini’s men. On the same court, in the late game, it will then be time for Tre Fiori versus Pennarossa. Bugli’s side must put behind them the defeat (against Folgore) with which they said goodbye to 2023, while Casadei’s men are searching for a positive result that has eluded them since 13 November. Matchday 13 will conclude on Wednesday with the late fixture between Cosmos and Faetano, played on the parquet of the Multieventi. Both teams have gone without a win for some time. For Cosmos the drought has been considerably shorter, and, should Pennarossa lose, they could climb a place in the standings. Faetano’s last victory, on the other hand, lies much further back, but they are highly motivated by the chance – if they take all three points – to catch their opponents of the evening in the table. Kick-off is at 21:45. Tre Penne have a bye week. Here is the full Matchday 13 schedule:
