Futsal Cup, Round of 16 second legs: spirited Cailungo fall short, Faetano also go out
No comebacks in yesterday evening’s Titano Futsal Cup Round of 16 second legs. The most dramatic contest was undoubtedly in Domagnano between Cailungo and Cosmos. After the Gialloverdi’s clear 5-0 win in the first leg, even a superb performance from the Rossoverdi, eliminated by a whisker, was not enough in the return match. Almost everything happened after the break. Gianni’s goal right on half-time lifted Cailungo, who within a few minutes at the start of the second half moved in front 3-0 thanks to Rossini and again Gianni. Bacciocchi pulled one back for the Serravalle side, but Cailungo kept pushing and a brace from Flammini blew the tie wide open again. Despite their efforts right up to the final second, Cailungo win 5-1 but it is not enough to at least force extra time.
After their narrow first-leg advantage, Libertas cruised to a resounding 5-0 win over Faetano, knocking out the Gialloblù in what was expected to be the most evenly balanced tie of the evening. Levani’s side struck early through Fabbri and Selva, with the latter doubling his tally on 26 minutes to send the Granata in 3-0 up at the break. Libertas then padded the scoreline after the restart with goals from Giardi and Giorgetti to complete the rout.
Virtus edged past Folgore, with the Neroverdi already sitting on a 5-1 cushion from the first leg. Fabio Belloni broke the deadlock on 23 minutes, then after the interval came the exchange of blows between Michele Ercolani and Luca Zafferani. In Dogana, Michelotti’s side run out 2-1 winners and move through to the next round.
Job done as well for Juvenes-Dogana, who clinch a place in the quarter-finals. The Serravalle outfit drew 2-2 in an entertaining match on the Acquaviva court against Tre Penne. Cellarossi’s men, 4-0 winners in the first leg, were hit early by the Biancoazzurri coached by Penserini thanks to goals from Cola and Gamba. Simone Celli pulled one back on 23 minutes and, late on, Gatti struck the final equaliser. As in the first leg, Pennarossa also won the return match against Fiorentino, thus eliminating the Rossoblù from the competition. The early initiative, however, was from Secreti’s side, who took the lead through Para. The Biancorossi levelled through Andolina at the start of the second half, only for Bernardi to restore Fiorentino’s advantage. Novembrini’s team then turned it around and, with goals from Ceccoli, Gasperoni and Andolina, prevailed 4-2. An identical scoreline to the first leg was handed out to Tre Fiori by Domagnano. It was the Gialloblù who opened the scoring through Berardi, replied to by Andrea Hidri (in between, red cards – one apiece – for Lorenzo Agostini and Santarini). The Wolves then ran riot with goals from Dolcini, Hidri, Menghi (brace) and Pascucci. In the closing stages Tre Fiori netted again through Thomas Crescentini, setting the final score at 6-2 to Domagnano. After ten goals in the first leg, La Fiorita hit twelve last night as they swept aside San Giovanni. Contributing to the Montegiardino side’s goalfest were Matteo Chezzi (four goals), Pellegrini, Tassitano and Bologna (all with braces), plus Raschi and Guidi. In Domagnano it finished 12-0 to the Gialloblù.
