Futsal: eleventh matchday kicks off tomorrow
The two Fiorentino sides will open the eleventh matchday of the San Marino Futsal Championship tomorrow. Both of them, against the odds, will be up against La Fiorita and Pennarossa. The namesake club from the Castello will take on the Gialloblù from Montegiardino (Dogana, 20:15), who come into the game on the back of ten points from their last three outings and a win in the head‑to‑head with Tre Penne, which allowed them to draw level in third place. Pennarossa are further back, sitting fifth and four points adrift of the last slot that guarantees direct access to the postseason without having to go through the Preliminary Round. The Chiesanuova club are unbeaten in seven matches and have already observed their bye week, unlike the top two in the table and Tre Penne – who are five points ahead. Tre Fiori and Fiorentino, on the other hand, are not in good shape: the Rossoblù share bottom spot with San Giovanni on three points, while their neighbours have just one more win to their name, which is only good enough for twelfth place.
The second match on Fiorentino’s artificial surface kicks off at 21:45 and will be Virtus vs San Giovanni. It’s a top‑versus‑bottom clash with an outcome that looks straightforward on paper, but the Rossoneri will try to challenge that against a Michelotti side who have gone three games without a win. The Acquaviva outfit lost their outright lead at the top of the table in last week’s head‑to‑head with Murata: Zafferani and his team‑mates want to shake off their disappointment with a convincing performance. At the same time, Tre Penne and Folgore will face off in Dogana. While Penserini’s men were left frustrated by a narrow defeat to La Fiorita, Folgore have recorded two wins in their last three matches. What’s more, Claudio Zonzini is back in the dugout of the Giallorossoneri.
The only indoor match on Monday will be Cosmos vs Libertas. The Granata have recently rediscovered the taste of victory, putting four past Fiorentino. To get the better of Cosmos – who have lost only twice all season so far – Levani’s team will need a major performance. Kick‑off is scheduled for 22:00 at the Multieventi. The same time, moreover, as the Tuesday and Thursday late fixtures at the Acquaviva sports hall. The first will feature Domagnano and Murata, who come into it in completely contrasting moods: the Wolves have collected just a single point from their last three outings, while the holders of all the national trophies have recently seized outright top spot in the table – overwhelming Virtus 7-0 in their direct clash. Bringing the curtain down on the eleventh round of the competition will be Cailungo vs Juvenes-Dogana. The Gialloverdi have earned half of their total points in recent weeks, a period in which the Serravalle side have also shone – stringing together three wins and a draw. A game open to any outcome, a fitting conclusion to a matchday in which few surprises are to be expected.
