Futsal: Fiorentino and Folgore hit double figures, Virtus defeat Tre Penne
Fiorentino respond immediately – and in emphatic fashion – to their first league defeat of the season. Cailungo pay the price, swept aside with a clear-cut 12-1 scoreline. The Rossoverdi manage to cancel out, through Sabatino, the opening goal from Zafferani. However, Cevoli’s brace puts the reigning champions back on the right track; then Casadei and Bacciocchi – the latter also with a brace – further widen the gap before the sides change ends. The six first-half goals are replicated after the restart: this time the scorers are Casadei, Busignani with four and Ceccoli. Folgore also score 12 in their match, adding a clean sheet for good measure. Faetano concede for the first time on 5 minutes, when Chezzi nets the first of his four goals of the evening. There is also a multi-goal haul for Tassitano, who bags a hat-trick. The other goals for the Giallorossonere come from Pasqualini, Giardi, Volpinari and Koci. An own goal by Bacciocchi completes the tally. La Fiorita also avoid any missteps against San Giovanni and, taking advantage of Murata’s rest day, temporarily reclaim a place in the top four. An own goal by Rossi gives the Montegiardino side a lightning lead, which is reinforced by goals from Giuccioli, Bernardi, Bartoli and Gasperoni before half-time. The only blot on the first half for Gianni Galli is the red card shown to Cappelli on 21 minutes. Macina pulls one back at the start of the second half, but La Fiorita begin to pound away again and, with goals from Berardi, Bernardi and Gasperoni (a brace for the latter two), wrap things up at 8-1.
Tre Fiori do not relinquish their place on the podium, overcoming Cosmos – albeit not as comfortably as the table, and the recent form of the two sides, might have suggested. The Gialloverdi put up a real fight, especially in the first half. Tre Fiori’s 1-0 advantage arrives on 9 minutes through Casadei, before Lorenzo Burioni doubles the lead roughly 60 seconds later. Carloni pulls one back for the Serravalle side, and within two minutes Lorenzo Burioni restores the two-goal cushion. Righi needs the same amount of time to bring Cosmos back into it; they then concede the 4-2 to Toccaceli, but reduce the deficit to the minimum just before the interval thanks to Bacciocchi. Ceccaroli opens the second half by making it 4-4, a scoreline once again broken by Lorenzo Burioni. His brother Filippo then makes it 6-4, immediately after Lo Giudice saves a 10-metre penalty taken by Toccaceli. The latter makes amends on 55 minutes, while Filippo Burioni takes responsibility for a second 10-metre which crashes against the crossbar. The final word belongs to Cosmos: Zafferani finds the net, but his goal cannot prevent a sixth consecutive defeat for the Gialloverdi.
Virtus return from their rest day by securing a second win on the bounce, at the expense of Tre Penne, in one of the most intriguing fixtures – in league-table terms – of the entire 24th matchday. The opening 20-plus minutes are perfectly balanced, with Aruci and Salles trading blows to make it 1-1. Aruci again puts Virtus in front, and before the break they manage to stretch their lead further through Selva and Sensoli. Four minutes into the second half, Pascucci helps to widen a gap that Tre Penne will not be able to bridge, only to narrow. Dominella scores Tre Penne’s second to make it 5-2, 5 minutes before Salles is shown a second yellow card. That remains the scoreline at the final whistle. Tre Penne’s defeat is a boost for Domagnano, who open up a gap on the Biancoazzurri thanks to their win over Pennarossa, the Wolves’ second victory in a row. It is, however, a hard-fought success: up to 4 minutes from time, Pennarossa were holding Gasperoni’s side at 1-1. Domagnano had gone in front on 3 minutes through Menghi. Pennarossa hit back fairly quickly after the Giallorossi captain’s goal, also taking advantage of goalkeeper Agostini’s dismissal for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. In fact, Domagnano never really had to endure being a man down, because from the resulting free-kick Tiziano Selva found the gap to beat Muraccini, who in the meantime had replaced the number 1. The long stalemate is finally broken on 56 minutes by Santarini; shortly afterwards, Faetanini applies the double lock on a win that allows Domagnano to protect 8th place and also pile some pressure on Juvenes-Dogana, who on Thursday will play their rescheduled fixture against Libertas.
