Futsal: fireworks in Tre Fiori-San Giovanni, from tomorrow the cup final spot is on the line
A thrilling narrow victory, with no fewer than thirteen goals scored in total at the Multieventi, between Tre Fiori and San Giovanni. Pollini’s men made a lightning start, racing into a 4-0 lead inside eight minutes thanks to strikes from Casadei, Zanotti, Michelotti and Amici. What looked like it might be a quiet evening for the Gialloblù was complicated by goals from Volpinari, Severi and Macina – matching the effort of Tamagnini for Tre Fiori, who went into the break 5-3 up. It was blow for blow after the restart as Rossi brought San Giovanni back to within one, only for them to be hit again by Michelotti on 41 minutes. The finale had it all, with Severi scoring on 59’ and 60+1’. Before that, a Volpinari goal had been ruled out. Ultimately, what proved decisive was Antonelli’s clinical finish right at the end of normal time, capitalising on the first possession after the Rossoneri’s temporary 5-6 lead. The win lifts Tre Fiori into eighth place, ahead of Fiorentino.
The reigning champions, meanwhile, suffered a predictable defeat, going down away to league leaders Murata in Fiorentino. In the 3-0 scoreline, there was room on the scoresheet for Ghiotti and Busignani in the first half and Mattioli near the end. The gap at the top remains unchanged thanks to Pennarossa’s emphatic win over Cailungo. Novembrini’s side wrapped it up at 6-0, with Verri scoring twice in the first half, right after goals from Gasperoni and Maiani. After the break, Oddone and Brighi stretched the gap between the two sides even further.
Nothing changed in the race for twelfth place either, with Cailungo maintaining a two-point cushion over Faetano – beaten in Fiorentino by Cosmos. It was a night to remember for Lorenzo Bacciocchi, who signed off a hat-trick in the Gialloverdi’s 3-0 win, opening the scoring on 23 minutes before adding further goals at the start and end of the second half. Folgore can celebrate clinching a postseason berth after a victory over Libertas that went according to the script, taking the lead from the spot after just three minutes. Casali converted the penalty, followed by Beccari’s quick-fire brace inside a minute. Before half-time, Stefanelli also found the net to make it 4-0. Finally, Virtus climbed back into fourth place in the standings, beating Juvenes-Dogana and taking advantage of Tre Penne’s rest day. It was a difficult start for the Neroverdi, who fell behind to Thomas Celli’s seventh league goal of the season. Michelotti’s men reacted strongly, levelling on 15 minutes through Biordi and reserving the winning goals for the second half. In fact, just two minutes after the restart were enough for Cevoli to turn the game around, with the result then sealed by Biordi’s second of the night. This evening, at the Acquaviva sports hall, there is a play-off taster between La Fiorita and Domagnano (kick-off 21:45).
It is not just about the league: this week will also decide the fate of the Titano Futsal Cup semi-finals. Over the next forty-eight hours, the second legs are scheduled, with the main focus on the game at the Multieventi between Virtus and Pennarossa (tomorrow, 21:45). The first leg, played on 13 March, finished perfectly poised at 2-2, and the return could require two extra-time periods of five minutes each and penalty shoot-outs if needed to determine who will play for the trophy. In the other tie, Murata simply need to rubber-stamp their progress, having a 7-1 win over Juvenes-Dogana from the first meeting to rely on. That second leg is scheduled for Thursday evening at the Acquaviva sports hall (21:45).
