Futsal: high‑stakes clash between Murata and La Fiorita with Pennarossa lying in wait

Tomorrow evening marks the start of the 20th matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, the third round in the space of just over a week if we include last Thursday’s fixtures. Centre stage will be the showdown between Murata and La Fiorita, which only a fortnight ago looked set to ignite a head‑to‑head battle for top spot in the regular season. Instead, after La Fiorita’s two recent defeats, the club from Montegiardino now risks seriously compromising their chances of finishing runners‑up. The match is scheduled in Dogana tomorrow night at 21:45. Pennarossa will be ready – one way or another – to take advantage, currently second in the table, six points behind Murata and four clear of the duo of Virtus and La Fiorita (the Gialloblù are the only side to have already observed their rest round). In some respects, the Biancorossi would almost prefer Murata to remain unbeaten, given that the main benefits of the regular season are reserved for the teams finishing in the top two. The trophy itself will only be awarded at the end of the play‑off phase. Novembrini’s side will take on Faetano – back in action after their rest round – in the only fixture scheduled in Domagnano. The Borgo Maggiore derby between Libertas and Cailungo will instead open the programme in Fiorentino at 20:15. The Granata are eager to put an end to a long run of defeats, up against a well‑organised side seeking points to all but secure their place in the postseason. And why not, even dream of overtaking Tre Fiori – currently two points ahead. Pollini’s team will face Juvenes-Dogana aiming to respond after four straight defeats to Virtus, Murata, Domagnano and Pennarossa. That match will kick off in Fiorentino at 21:45. The reigning rossoblù champions will themselves be in action in Dogana, where they take on Domagnano. The Lupi continue their long‑distance duel with Tre Penne in the hunt for fifth place in the standings. Both sides, favourites on paper, will have to prove they are stronger than Fiorentino and Folgore – the standout teams of recent seasons in Sammarinese controlled‑bounce futsal. The Biancazzurri coached by Penserini, as mentioned, will challenge the club from Falciano on the Multieventi court (tomorrow, 21:45). This fixture has been assigned to the Gibraltarian refereeing duo of Borrego and Prescott, with Tura acting as third official. The two internationals from the Gibraltar Referees’ Association will also take charge of Wednesday’s late fixture, again at the Multieventi and again at 21:45. On that occasion it will be San Giovanni and Virtus facing off, with very different targets in sight. The Neroverdi are still eyeing up second place in the table, while Franchino’s men – currently second from bottom – will need to put together more than one positive result in the final third of the regular season if they are to close the seven‑point gap to 12th place. As part of the project that has brought Gibraltarian match officials to San Marino – both for the football and futsal leagues – two ASA‑affiliated referees have travelled to the foot of the Rocca. They are Lerza and Delvecchio, appointed to two fixtures of the 14th matchday of the Gibraltarian league: Zoca Bastion-Laguna 2007 (played yesterday) and Bavaria-Hercules (scheduled for today at 16:30).
