Futsal: honours even in Murata-La Fiorita showdown

The main course of Matchday 21 in the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal lived up to expectations: Murata-La Fiorita served up a truly thrilling contest, decided in the final minutes, which also saw two red cards. At half-time the reigning champions were two goals up thanks to strikes from Felici and Moretti. In the opening minutes of the second half, however, La Fiorita hit back through Matteo Chezzi and Pellegrini, both on target within the space of a minute. Once again Matteo Chezzi, on 49 minutes, completed the comeback for the Gialloblù – who were then pegged back at the death by De Angelis’ last-gasp goal. Just before and just after that, two red cards hit La Fiorita: following a second yellow for Matteo Chezzi came a straight red for Rossi.

Murata remain firmly top of the table, while La Fiorita see Tre Penne and Virtus pull away and also feel Pennarossa breathing down their necks. The Chiesanuova club, albeit with a game more, are now just two points behind Pietrangeli’s side. Yesterday the Biancorossi came from behind after Faetano’s opener by Simone Fortunati, turning the game around twice and finishing with four different scorers. On the scoresheet were Toccaceli, Verri, Oddone and Ceccoli.

Predictions were borne out for Tre Penne and Virtus. The club from Città claw back two of the three points dropped in the top-of-the-table derby with Murata, relying on Gabrielli, Sabatino and Beinat to overcome Cailungo – finding the goals to settle it in the closing stages, when the 3-0 scoreline took shape. Michelotti’s side go within a whisker of double figures, inspired by a four-goal haul from Morini and a brace from Zafferani to thrash Tre Fiori 9-0. Adding their names to the list of scorers were Dolcini, Pasqualini and Casadei.

In the bottom half of the table, the group chasing behind Folgore – the central pivot of the fifteen-team standings and idle this round – it is Libertas who can take most encouragement from the day’s results. The draw with Domagnano allows the Granata to pull away from Faetano and extend to +4 their cushion over thirteenth place (the first position that does not grant access to the postseason). Everything happens after the break, kicked off by Hidri’s goal inside the opening minute of the half. Selva’s quickfire double – on target on 37 and 41 minutes – put the Borgo Maggiore side in front, but from midway through the half the scoresheet also featured Sensoli – who struck to make it 2-2 at the final whistle.

As mentioned, Fiorentino come away empty-handed: the Rossoblù get off to a nightmare start, finding themselves two goals down early on against Cosmos. For Franchino’s men, Guerra and Molinas find the net. The Gialloverdi strike at the beginning and at the end, with Bacciocchi making it 3-0 on 58 minutes, rendering Para’s stoppage-time strike meaningless – other than for the statistics. It’s all straightforward for Juvenes Dogana, who at the Multieventi put five past San Giovanni, bottom of the pile and now nine points adrift of the play-off spots. An own goal by Borasco initially puts the Rossoneri in front, but they are pegged back by the same wide man, who scores before Rossini and Thomas Celli turn the game around to send the Serravalle side in 3-1 up at the interval. In the second half the scoreline is updated in the final two minutes, as Mazza and once again Thomas Celli add their names to the report.
