Futsal: Tre Fiori protect third place, Murata surge up the table
Domagnano’s assault on third place comes to nothing. Tre Fiori take the head-to-head with the Giallorossi, prevailing 3-2 thanks to goals scored in the closing stages. For a long time the match remains stuck at 0-0, which is finally broken on 49 minutes when an unfortunate ricochet off the post and then Cavalli’s leg, following a Cecchini effort, results in an own goal and Tre Fiori’s opener. The Domagnano no. 10 quickly makes amends, levelling matters for 1-1 just 2 minutes after that episode. Tre Fiori in turn prove very good at absorbing the setback of the equaliser. Bugli’s men are back in front almost immediately through Ferrenti, who is first denied by a reflex stop from Muraccini, then pounces on the loose ball and finishes into an empty net. Shortly afterwards Domagnano go a man down with Menghi sent off, but Tre Fiori are unable to extend their lead. The opposite happens when the red card is shown to Lorenzo Bollini: Gasperoni steps up for the resulting free-kick on the edge of the area, given for a foul by the Giallorossi no. 11, and toe-pokes the ball past Muraccini. It looks done and dusted, but Domagnano come back to life and reduce the deficit to one thanks to a poacher’s finish from Filippo Dolcini. Time, however, is almost up. In the few remaining seconds Domagnano cannot put together another attacking move, and in the end it is Tre Fiori who celebrate, protecting the bottom step of the podium and, at least in relation to Domagnano, also securing the edge of two wins in the head-to-heads.
The Wolves slip to fifth place, behind La Fiorita and level on points with Virtus, who could pull clear this evening if they win the late indoor fixture against Cosmos. As for the Montegiardino side, it is a relatively calm evening, even if Ghiotti’s men need more than a half of football to finally unlock the Tre Penne game. It is Giuccioli’s brace in the opening minutes of the second half that steers the contest in favour of the Gialloblù; Stolfi (who also bags a brace), Bernardi and Esposito then make sure of a win which, for now, is worth fourth place on their own (pending Virtus). Juvenes-Dogana also take advantage of Domagnano’s defeat to close up the standings in the area where the battle for fourth place is raging. It is anything but a straightforward evening for Zonzini’s men, who have to work extremely hard to prise all three points from San Giovanni. The spectacular 5-4 in Fiorentino is opened on 3 minutes by Chezzi, with Zonzini replying just after the quarter-hour mark. Juvenes go back in front through goalkeeper Cecchetti, and San Giovanni restore parity again with Mularoni. Volpinari, from the penalty spot, puts the Rossoneri ahead on 8 minutes of the second half, and this time it is Juvenes-Dogana who find an effective reaction through Muraro. On 49 minutes San Giovanni again take the lead with another Volpinari penalty, and once more Juvenes-Dogana level through Muraro. Chezzi then joins the evening’s list of brace-scorers by producing the match-winning strike in the 60th minute.
A fine leap forward too for Murata, who win their six-pointer with Faetano and in one fell swoop leapfrog Libertas and Tre Penne, climbing to 9th place and thus moving away from the most turbulent waters. Their second win on the spin (and third game unbeaten) under Cellarosi is built in the first half, when Conti and Della Valle both find the net, before Faetano attempt a comeback midway through the second half through Guerra, without however managing to complete the turnaround. At the top, the close duel – albeit at distance – continues between joint leaders Fiorentino and Folgore. Lately, the contest has shifted onto the plane of who can score the most against their opponents of the day, and in that respect it is Fiorentino who have recently gained the upper hand, thanks to big wins over Cailungo and, last night, Pennarossa, taking over the virtual lead of the Single Group on goal difference, given that the direct clash between the two title rivals ended perfectly level. As mentioned, it was Pennarossa who, yesterday, fell under the – many – blows of the Rossoblù band. The 12-0 win has Busignani as its outstanding protagonist. The versatile Rossoblù scores no fewer than seven goals, beginning his show after 4 minutes and then striking repeatedly between the 6th and 11th minutes. Cevoli’s brace takes the score to 6-0, a result that is clearly not enough for Michelotti’s men, as before the interval there are three more goals: one from Moretti and two more from Busignani, who scores one from open play and the other from the penalty spot after Ciacci’s “save” earns the Chiesanuova no. 14 a straight red card. After the restart there is room for another goal from Busignani and for further efforts from Moretti and Cevoli, who also end their evenings with sizeable personal hauls, though still not comparable to that of the rampant no. 18.
Folgore are also in very free-scoring mood, although compared to Fiorentino they score one less and concede one more. Chezzi tries to emulate Busignani but falls a goal short: the Spada no. 9 racks up six goals of his own against hapless Cailungo, who then also succumb to strikes from Ercolani, Pellegrini (brace), Iuliani and Chezzi. For the Rossoverdi, it had been Sabatino who initially reduced the deficit – to 5-1 – at the start of the second half.
