Futsal: Juvenes-Dogana defeat Domagnano 4-2

Juvenes-Dogana record their fourth consecutive positive result, beating Domagnano in the late fixture of matchday ten in the Campionato Sammarinese futsal league. On the other side, the Wolves have now gone three games without a win – collecting just a single point in that span.

As expected, the clash at the Multieventi is evenly balanced, and what proves decisive at the final whistle is the greater cutting edge shown by Cellarosi’s men in front of goal. Domagnano’s early forays through Hidri and Kevin Vagnini do not trouble Chiaruzzi, whereas Muraccini is beaten at Juvenes-Dogana’s first attempt. The Giallorossi are slow to drop back on Chiaruzzi’s long throw; then Simone Celli keeps his cool to bring the ball under control and square for Gatti to tap into an empty net for the opener. The pivot then crashes a shot against the Domagnano upright, before the same goal is breached again 100 seconds later by former Domagnano player Cavalli. The move once more stems from a Chiaruzzi restart – this time with his feet – setting up a lightning turn from the Sammarinese winger, who shakes off Righi and beats Muraccini with the tip of his right boot. Domagnano get themselves back into the game in similar fashion: Muraccini quickly turns defence into attack, picking out Menghi in behind the last opposition outfield player. The captain produces a delightful outside-of-the-foot touch to lift the ball over Chiaruzzi and reopen the contest. Before the interval, two excellent saves from Chiaruzzi and Muraccini ensure the sides change ends with Juvenes-Dogana of Serravalle still leading 2-1.

There is one chance apiece at the start of the second half, with Simone Celli firing into the side-netting at the end of a Juvenes-Dogana counter, and Menghi – at the other end – clipping the crossbar directly from a corner routine. Soon after, Cellarosi’s side find the net again, having already flirted with a third on a couple of Gatti efforts – both repelled by an excellent Muraccini. The move that leads to Muccioli’s 3-1 is chaotic: his first attempt is blocked by the keeper, but he then punishes a lapse from Pascucci – who thought the danger had passed – by pouncing on the loose ball and knocking it in from point-blank range. Shortly afterwards, Hidri unleashes a right-footed strike that forces a save from Chiaruzzi, whose performance proves key to Juvenes-Dogana’s victory, finally sealed in the first minute of stoppage time. Cavalli wins a couple of ricochets on the break: the pinball action falls kindly for Quaranta’s run, and he keeps his cool to beat Muraccini with his right foot, sparking an unbridled celebration that also earns him a yellow card. It matters little for Cellarosi’s team, who then concede right at the death to a Kevin Vagnini goal – relevant only for the statistics – that makes it 4-2 at full time. It is an important win for Juvenes-Dogana, who draw level with their recent opponents on 12 points and share eighth place in the table.
