Futsal: late fixture goes Juvenes Dogana’s way

The final match of Matchday 25 in the San Marino Futsal Championship pitted Domagnano against Juvenes Dogana, two of the four sides clustered within a handful of points behind Pennarossa. It proved to be a round to smile about for the three Serravalle clubs, all victorious: Domagnano, in fact, lose ground on Folgore and Juvenes Dogana – and also see Cosmos, with whom they had been level in the table, pull away.

That substantial parity on the pitch was broken midway through the second half by two yellow cards shown to De Bellis within the space of four minutes. Juvenes Dogana needed just under two minutes to make the most of the numerical advantage and break the deadlock through Thomas Celli. The red-white-and-blue winger, already his team’s leading scorer, then struck his fourteenth league goal on 55 minutes, handing Cellarosi’s side a two-goal cushion. That proved decisive in securing the win: Domagnano did pull one back on 59 minutes through Vagnini, capitalising on Gasperoni’s decision to deploy the flying goalkeeper. In the remaining stoppage time, Juvenes Dogana’s defensive unit withstood Domagnano’s last desperate assaults, allowing the Serravalle club to celebrate their tenth victory of the campaign – and their fourth in the last five outings.
