Futsal: league final tomorrow, it’s Murata vs Pennarossa again

After the Titano Futsal Cup final, Murata and Pennarossa will meet again tomorrow evening – once more at the Multieventi – for the final chapter of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal. At stake is not only the trophy but also the prestigious European berth through qualification for the Preliminary Round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League.

Max Spada’s Murata come into this final on the back of a perfect campaign: 31 wins between the regular season and play-offs, one draw and no defeats. “The boys have had a fantastic season,” the Murata coach said at the press conference. “They have always given everything and that has allowed us to reach two finals. Pennarossa have had an excellent run; it will be a balanced final and one well worth watching. We will try to approach it in the way we know best, but we are up against a well-equipped and well-organised side.”

Equally confident and optimistic is Danilo Busignani, scorer of almost 50 goals this season in the black-and-white shirt: “We are fully aware of our strengths, we know how to play this kind of match and a lot will depend on us. Throughout the year we have shown that we deserve to be in both finals; we go into this one as favourites and we are happy to carry that label. But it will be decided on the pitch. The group is ready; we are in a good place both mentally and physically.”

Standing between Murata and their perfect season is Pennarossa, who after losing the Titano Futsal Cup final want another crack at Murata and are aiming to win the title they have been missing since way back in 2015.

“It has been a great year for us,” said Gabriele Monesi, assistant coach to Settimio Novembrini, at the press conference. “The two finals we have reached show that we have worked very well. Tomorrow we want to play our hand and be protagonists in the final. Compared to the cup final, we will have everyone available, and that is very important for us.”

The head-to-head record this season favours Murata (one draw and a narrow win in the regular season, plus a 6–1 victory in the cup final), but on all three occasions the team from Chiesanuova took the lead. “We will need to be good at avoiding the same mistakes,” Monesi commented, “and try to bring home the result. We can hurt Murata.”

From the bench to the pitch, with Daniele Maiani backing the strength of his Pennarossa squad: “We have fought together and made sacrifices to go all the way in both competitions. Credit also goes to the club, which did an excellent job in the summer. The group is our main strength. In the league play-offs we were a bit tired; we struggled against Cosmos and La Fiorita but in the end we managed to reach this important final.”

A reminder that the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal final between Murata and Pennarossa kicks off at 21:00 at the Multieventi Sport Domus in Serravalle (free entry). The match will also be broadcast live with full commentary on Titani.tv. This evening – again at 21:00 but at the Acquaviva sports hall – the third-place play-off between Virtus and La Fiorita will take place.
