Futsal: Murata chasing an eighth straight win, Pennarossa targeting a seventh
Tomorrow marks the start of a packed futsal week, with the league taking centre stage between Monday and Wednesday and the Titano Futsal Cup on Thursday delivering the quarter-final verdicts. Tomorrow evening will once again see Murata focussing all their efforts on defending top spot. Cosmos face the tough task of trying to prevent the Bianconeri from claiming an eighth consecutive victory. Afterwards, on the same pitch in Domagnano, comes the clash between San Giovanni and Juvenes-Dogana. San Giovanni can draw inspiration from the feat that Faetano came close to completing last Monday, with the clear intention of finishing the job. That feat was spoiled precisely by Juvenes-Dogana who, 2-0 down against the Gialloblù, managed to come back to 2-2, scoring the equaliser virtually at the death. It was an evening that in any case will not have fully satisfied Roberto Levani, eager to make amends and to take maximum advantage not only of Cosmos’ tricky test, but also of Cailungo’s rest day: both the Rossoverdi and the Gialloverdi, in fact, are landing on the same doorstep as the Biancorossoazzurri in the table. Also in that area of the standings is Tre Fiori, who were unable to build on the win over Libertas and must now take on, in Dogana, a Folgore side in good form but without captain Ercolani, sent off against Cosmos. Securing a fourth win in the last five league outings would allow Zonzini’s men to draw level, at least temporarily, with Domagnano – who play in the late fixture – and potentially break their deadlock with Fiorentino, should the latter emerge from the evening showdown with anything less than a victory. The task awaiting Galli’s side is certainly no easy one, up against a La Fiorita outfit that has fully digested the defeat to Murata and is riding a three-game winning streak, a run that has recently enabled Montegiardino to catch Virtus in third place. In any case, Fiorentino also come into this on the back of three straight wins: all in all, the match that rounds off the evening in Dogana is shaping up to be one of the most attractive fixtures of the night.
Exactly double that run – six – is the number of consecutive victories with which Pennarossa will approach the Tre Penne test. Here too, the game promises plenty of entertainment, with the Biancoazzurri knowing that a win would drastically reduce the gap currently separating them from Chiesanuova, which stands at just four points. Tre Penne, however, have lost some of their momentum in very recent weeks and will also be out to erase the heavy defeat suffered against Virtus. The latter will in some way be rooting tomorrow for Penserini’s side, given that Pennarossa currently hold a one-point advantage over Acquaviva. First and foremost, though, Matteo Michelotti (who tomorrow serves the final match of his three-game touchline ban) will ask his players not to underestimate the Faetano challenge, all the more so considering the scare Corbelli’s team gave Juvenes-Dogana just six days ago, while still managing to get something on the board after a lean spell. The round – Matchday 10 of the league – will conclude on Wednesday with the only indoor fixture scheduled. At the Multieventi, Domagnano – coming off two games without points and without goals – will face a Libertas side increasingly desperate to pick up their first points of the season. Libertas coach Leonardo Palermino will, however, have to watch his return to face his former club from the stands, as he serves the first of a two-match suspension incurred against La Fiorita – another of the Forlì coach’s former “flames”.
