Futsal: Pennarossa and Murata out to defend top spot

The San Marino Futsal Championship is gearing up for Matchday 5, with Pennarossa and Murata looking to defend top spot and extend what has so far been a flawless start to the season. The two sides are in fact the only ones with a 100% record, four wins from four, and head into the new round aiming to confirm their status. They could also take advantage and stretch their lead over Cosmos, currently sitting fourth. The Serravalle side will in fact be the one observing the rest round. Kicking off the programme on Monday evening will be Pennarossa, who are due at 20:15 at the Fiorentino stadium for their clash with Fiorentino. The Biancorossi come into this on the back of an impressive winning streak and can also boast the league’s best defence, with just three goals conceded. They face a team that, after their rest round, return to the court determined to rediscover consistency and climb the table. Also on Monday, at 21:00, action resumes on the Acquaviva (outdoor) court, where Cailungo will face La Fiorita. The Rossoverdi are coming off two consecutive defeats and are therefore under pressure to turn things around and move away from the lower reaches of the table. It will certainly not be an easy game, as they come up against one of the most prolific sides in the league, who are aiming to keep pace with the leaders. The Gialloblù, however, will be without their captain, Thomas Pellegrini, suspended after the previous matchday. At 21:45, again in Fiorentino, it will be time for Juvenes Dogana v Virtus. The two teams, level on four points, come into this fixture after heavy defeats. For both, this is a chance to get back on track and relaunch their ambitions after an inconsistent start to the season. The last kick-off of the evening is scheduled for 22:00 at the Multieventi Sport Domus, which will host the meeting between Murata and Tre Fiori. The Bianconeri will have to defend their place in the upper reaches of the table against a side still searching for their first win of the season. The programme continues on Tuesday evening, at 22:00, with Libertas v Tre Penne at the Acquaviva Sports Hall. The Granata have started to make up ground thanks to two wins in a row and are looking to consolidate their position in the top part of the standings. It is the opposite situation for Tre Penne, still on zero points after four games: the match is an important opportunity for Federico Muccioli’s men to finally get their season up and running. On Wednesday, at 22:00, the Multieventi Sport Domus will host Domagnano v San Giovanni. In their last outing, the Wolves ended their winless run and rediscovered the confidence needed to try to climb the table. San Giovanni, on the other hand, are still chasing their first points of the season and must look for a reaction after the heavy defeat against Faetano. It is a match with precious points at stake for two sides eager to change gear. Rounding off Matchday 5, on Thursday at 22:00 at the Acquaviva Sports Hall, will be Faetano v Folgore. The Falciano side, stuck on three points, need to react to avoid losing further ground on Faetano themselves. It is a contest that promises intensity between two teams under pressure to find continuity in their campaign.
