Futsal: top-of-the-table head-to-head clashes

This evening’s Matchday 8 in the San Marino Futsal Championship promises to be one to watch closely. It’s a round in which all of the top six sides go head to head in some very enticing direct clashes.

The pick of the bunch is probably the indoor match at the Multieventi in Serravalle, where league leaders Virtus – still with a perfect record – take on La Fiorita at 22:00. The Gialloblù are in good shape too, with five wins from six (their only defeat coming against Murata) and currently sit fourth in the table – albeit six points off the summit.

Chasing Virtus are Murata – two points back – hoping for a slip from the Neroverdi. Max Spada’s side, for their part, will be in action in Fiorentino (21:45) against Pennarossa, eager to avenge recent final defeats suffered at the hands of the Bianconeri. The Biancorossi are unbeaten in five, while Murata, along with Virtus, are the only unbeaten team left in the league (six wins and a draw).

Rounding off the direct clashes between the top six, Domagnano and Tre Penne will face off in Fiorentino (kick-off 20:15). Both sides come into the match on the back of two consecutive wins, but the table currently smiles more on the Biancoazzurri (third), who hold a five-point advantage over the Giallorossi (sixth).

With Juvenes-Dogana idle, Cosmos and Folgore will try to pull away from the team from their own Castello and move into double figures. All three sides are level on 8 points and have had inconsistent form so far. Cosmos are coming off a defeat and this evening in Dogana (21:45) will look to bounce back against Cailungo (just one win in the last five for the Rossoverdi). Similarly, the club from Falciano are looking to react after losing to Pennarossa and today take to the court in Dogana at 20:15 against a Libertas in crisis (three defeats on the spin).

Faetano and Fiorentino, both stuck on just 3 points, are also searching for points and a change of mood to climb the table. Their trajectories are almost identical, with one win in their last five outings. Gialloblu and Rossoblu meet at 20:15 in Domagnano. Another direct clash, this time at the bottom, sees San Giovanni take on Tre Fiori. The Rossoneri won on the opening day but have only recorded defeats since, while the Gialloblu are still chasing their first point of the campaign. They meet at 21:45 in Fiorentino. Once Matchday 8 is completed, the teams will be back on court immediately on Thursday 20th for Matchday 9.
