Futsal: top vs bottom clash in Fiorentino, Pennarossa put to the test by Virtus

For the fourth matchday of the league, the Domagnano pitch will once again make way for the Acquaviva pitch (outdoor). It is there that, in the 20:15 kick-off, Faetano and San Giovanni will be looking to reverse their current trajectories: both the Yellow and Blues and the Red and Blacks come into this one on the back of two straight defeats and are currently separated by three points – those picked up by Faetano on the opening day, when San Giovanni had their bye. So Palermino’s men have a mission first and foremost: to wipe out that absolute zero. The same thoughts are being shared by Tre Penne, who so far have suffered a run of nothing but defeats (three) and who on Monday will have to deal with a Murata side flying high after three wins from three. It will be a classic top vs bottom derby lighting up the late slot in Fiorentino, preceded at 20:15 by the clash between La Fiorita and Folgore. Pietrangeli’s Yellow and Blues have eased off after two opening wins, but remain unbeaten and are still looking very closely at the top end of the table. Folgore, for their part, should be fresher, having sat out the week set aside for the third round of fixtures, and they come into this one off the back of a resounding victory over Tre Penne. A win – less emphatic, but a win nonetheless – also boosted Juvenes Dogana, who have shown steady improvement over this first segment of the season (after an opening defeat, the Red, White and Light Blues drew with Cailungo and then beat San Giovanni) and who are now seeking strong answers against a Libertas side that sit on the same tally (4 points) as the Serravalle outfit and who, after a prestigious draw with La Fiorita, want to relive the good feelings of their opening-day victory, achieved at Cailungo’s expense. That will be the second game in Acquaviva, kicking off at 21:45. Shortly after, at 22:00, the Multieventi court will be set alight by the meeting between Pennarossa and Virtus: the Biancorossi have only one thing in mind – to extend their winning streak as they target a fourth win in four; as for Michelotti’s men, their sights are firmly set on a second consecutive victory after the one over Cailungo, which allowed them to put a sharp acceleration on a campaign that, up to then, consisted of a draw and a defeat. And since the numbers don’t lie, Acquaviva’s team currently have four points, the same as Fiorentino who, however, will not be able to add to their tally this week as they sit out. There is no rest in sight, nor any sign of slowing down, for Cosmos, who after an opening draw have strung together two consecutive victories, the latest of which came at the Acquaviva Gym against Faetano. On the same court, on Tuesday evening, Franchino’s men will be chasing a third success against a Tre Fiori side who, by contrast, have yet to win, but who have nonetheless managed to collect two precious points from as many draws – against Fiorentino and Domagnano. The latter in some way managed to get going again after two games that yielded nothing. However, the Wolves still feel an urgent need to claim their first win of the season, something that, after all, they have in common with Cailungo, their opponents in the second and last late fixture of matchday four, which will be played at the Acquaviva Gym on Thursday at 22:00. Whoever wins will be able to breathe a little easier; whoever loses will continue to struggle: that is what is at stake in this sort of “play-off” between two sides who share the same points haul – one.
