Futsal: Tre Fiori pull clear as Pennarossa claim third place

It ends with a come-from-behind victory for Tre Fiori in the head-to-head clash at the top of Group B. Bugli’s Gialloblù, who were already ahead of La Fiorita, thus manage a breakaway that could prove decisive in the final sprint before the post-season. Five points clear, combined with the better record in head-to-head meetings, represents a sizeable cushion. A cushion the Fiorentino side build thanks to a solid response after Montegiardino’s lightning opener from Pellegrini. Gasperoni levelled matters midway through the first half, while the goal that sealed the comeback was scored by Rossini well into the second period. The defeat also has the effect, for La Fiorita, of postponing qualification for the play-offs, which could already have been mathematically secured last night, although it now remains only a whisker away. Meanwhile, behind them, it is not Virtus who win the direct clash for third place but Pennarossa. The Chiesanuova side climb back above their direct rivals and relaunch themselves into the scramble – now more crowded than ever – for the last place that gives access to the final phase. The deadlock is broken at the end of the first half: Brighi puts Pennarossa ahead, only for them to suffer a Virtus comeback in the first three minutes after the restart, signed by Zamboni and Morganti. Nothing irreparable for Casadei’s men, who hit back on 42 minutes through Rinaldi and then themselves complete the turnaround via Ciarmatori, before Rinaldi again, deep into stoppage time, bolts the door on a result that, as well as lifting the Biancorossi into third place, confirms the verdict of the reverse fixture. The earlier reference to a more crowded battle is because Cosmos too, taking advantage of Virtus’ slip-up, are back in the race for the last of the three places in the sun. The Gialloverdi make it back-to-back wins with a 9-3 success over Faetano. The contest is effectively in the books already by the first 30 minutes: Matteo Giorgini’s brace and goals from Reggini, Mazza, Burgagni and Zafferani establish a huge lead that El Attar’s strike cannot really dent. All the more so given that Canducci’s side resume scoring after the change of ends, almost reaching double figures thanks to Giorgini’s third of the evening and further goals from Cervellini and Bologna. Faetano also add to their tally through Massimo Moroni and Guerra, but not enough to replicate what happened in the first meeting, when the two sides finished level. In Group A, the main talking point was the clash between first and third. Domagnano prove combative against steamroller Folgore, managing to climb back from 2-0 down to the Giallorossoneri, only to concede twice more and leave Busignani and company’s perfect league record intact. The game remains goalless until the end of the first half, when Felici finds a way past the Domagnano keeper. Early in the second half, Bernardi doubles the lead, suggesting that for Spada and his men the hard work is done. Not so, because Domagnano find the right reaction and repair all the damage thanks to a brace from Belloni. The final ten minutes, however, swing back the Giallorossoneri’s way: Busignani answers the evening’s call – extending his record of scoring in every league match – and is soon imitated by Chezzi, who seals the final 4-2. Folgore continue to set the pace and Fiorentino keep in touch. The Rossoblù’s 3-1 victory over San Giovanni stretches their lead over Domagnano and, above all, mathematically secures their place in the play-offs. It is not a game full of entertainment in Fiorentino. The reigning champions break the deadlock only on 26 minutes through Maiani, before quickly doubling their lead thanks to Ceccoli’s strike. Carlini scores the insurance goal eight minutes from time, while the consolation for a heavily depleted San Giovanni is signed by Volpinari in stoppage time. The evening also brings a change in the lower half of the table, entirely along the axis involving the three clubs from Borgo Maggiore. The 5-1 win over Cailungo allows Libertas to overtake San Giovanni just outside the play-off spots. Giardi opens the scoring after six minutes, but Cailungo manage to equalise before the break through Tura. That is not, however, the last word before half-time: that belongs to Bacciocchi, who restores Libertas’ lead. Penserini’s side then pull away in the second half, thanks to braces from Giardi and Bacciocchi after Gennari’s strike. Cailungo also have a chance to pull one back: Casadei, however, keeps out Burgagni’s penalty, crowning his debut evening in the best possible way.
