Futsal: Virtus face Folgore test, first points up for grabs for Cailungo and Pennarossa

One thing is certain: one between Cailungo and Pennarossa, if not both, will leave zero points behind after the Halloween matchday. On Monday evening the bottom two sides in the Single Group – still pointless so far, just like Tre Penne – will meet on the Fiorentino court. At stake, in addition to the very first points of the season, is also a step towards the goal of leaving to others the murky area of the table, the one that in the long run will mean exclusion from the post season. It is early to talk about such things on Matchday 5, but it is already worth giving them some thought. Thoughts that certainly also occupy Tre Penne, who after their rest round are about to return to the court against Tre Fiori. Here too, the Biancoazzurri’s minimum target is to get off the mark, despite facing one of the toughest tests on the schedule. Tre Fiori, in fact, are in good shape and, after their win over Murata, are looking to back it up against the other side from the Castello di San Marino Città, with eyes on fourth place, or even third. The latter is currently held by Virtus, who after beating La Fiorita are eyeing another big scalp. Standing in the Neroverdi’s way will be one of the two league leaders, namely Folgore, who so far – like Fiorentino – have only recorded wins. This will be the only late kick-off on 1 November, scheduled at the Acquaviva venue. The other team with maximum points, but with a game in hand, is Juvenes-Dogana. The Biancorossoazzurri will face La Fiorita on Monday evening, chasing a result that could mark – or at least begin – a turning point after a run of two defeats and a draw, including the cup. In that part of the table we also find Domagnano, eager to extend their positive streak – so far one draw and one win – in the close encounter with Faetano, who were recently handed their first defeat after a bright start to the league. The clash between the Wolves and the side coached by former boss Corbelli will effectively be a play-off: whoever wins climbs, whoever loses stays on 7 points, the tally currently shared by the two teams. Cosmos, on just one point, can clearly see an opportunity to climb, looking to make the most of San Giovanni’s rest round and of Libertas’ fixture, which is certainly not among the easiest for the Granata. Muccioli’s Gialloverdi have yet to break their duck in the league in terms of victories: hitting that target against Murata would not only mean drawing level with Palermino’s Bianconeri – coming off two consecutive defeats – but also overtaking San Giovanni for sure and likely moving ahead of Libertas as well. The latter, in fact, are up against a Fiorentino test. The Granata will be able to ride the enthusiasm from their first league win, achieved last Monday at the expense of Cosmos themselves, and it will be interesting to see whether that will be enough to contain the sheer power of the rossoblù outfit, who have four wins from four and a truly frightening goal difference (+25), second only to Folgore’s (+31). No Halloween action for Massimo Moroni (Faetano), Andrea Cappelli (Tre Fiori), Nicola Giorgini (Cosmos) and Lorenzo Cecchetti (Pennarossa), all sent off between last Monday and Tuesday. This is the Matchday 5 schedule:
