Happy birthday to “Challenging the Impossible”: the multimedia work on San Marino football turns one

No sooner had it been created than the multimedia feature “Challenging the Impossible. The Incredible Story of San Marino Football” already needed updating. The “fault” lay with the exploits of the San Marino National Team in the very recent Nations League. Naturally, it was an extremely sweet inconvenience for everyone. That work, which can be experienced at the Titanus Museum in the Historic Centre of San Marino, turns one today. And for the occasion a full-blown birthday party was organised, complete with cake. Among the guests of honour, the leadership of the Football Federation were inevitably present, underlining how crucial it is for those who run, administer and develop football on San Marino territory to have content capable of excellently recounting a story stretching back almost a century and, beyond that, of attracting and moving so many enthusiasts. But not only them: it also speaks to those who tend to observe football from a slightly more detached position, yet always with curiosity and interest. This is because the work “Challenging the Impossible” – a genuine museum itinerary within the Titanus Museum – does not only tell a football story, but a story of passion and of a constant drive to go beyond perceived limits. Values such as these are precious in every sphere of life. The hope is to keep adding to and refining this multimedia content, incorporating the stories of further feats and other incredible chapters.

As the President of the Titanus Museum, Dennis Guerra, put it: “Reaching the ‘first candle’ milestone is important. A year has gone by in which, alongside San Marino citizens, visitors from all over the world, curious to learn about the history of our football, have also discovered the very soul of our country. In twelve months, the Museum – thanks to this multimedia film on football – has become much more than a place where memorabilia are kept or trophies displayed. It has become an ambassador of the State of San Marino. Every visitor who has watched the work has taken away a piece of our history, then gone on to spread it, becoming a witness to our tradition.

The remarks of the President of the Football Federation, Marco Tura, start from the origins of this project which, as mentioned earlier, coincide with one of the happiest moments in our football: “The work was born under a very lucky star. In fact, just a few days after the official opening of the museum, we all experienced immense satisfaction with the victory in the Nations League and promotion to League C of the competition. Everyone who has experienced this content has been struck by the beauty of the historical journey; so many were moved and some even left with tears in their eyes – from the casual football fan to supporters of our National Team, through to club delegations and officials from international football institutions. And that is truly our victory. We will work to improve it and to improve ourselves, but there is no doubt that this represents a highly significant starting point.”

As mentioned, today’s event had all the hallmarks of a birthday party: cake, candle, guests… And of course there could be no lack of presents. The unusual aspect, however, is that it was the birthday “guest of honour” itself that distributed gifts to others. Specifically, tomorrow, Wednesday 12 November, entry to the “Challenging the Impossible” pavilion will be completely free for everyone. In addition, every visitor will receive a fun FSGC gadget. In fact, not only the work but also the store deserves to be celebrated, as sales of the “Challenging the Impossible” merchandise over these twelve months have been among the most notably positive and easily measurable figures. And the surprises do not end there: in the coming days another fine initiative linked to the birthday of “Challenging the Impossible” will be announced.

What is certain is that the Titanus Museum pavilion dedicated to San Marino football has enjoyed a very fine first year of life. It is easy to imagine it as a springboard towards new successes with the public – which will hopefully go hand in hand, of course, with success on the pitch.
