“Football is Inclusion” kicks off, a project supporting boys and girls with cognitive and relational disabilities

The work carried out over the last two summers through the “Super Calcio” project is now ready to become an ongoing, weekly activity. The San Marino Football Federation, in collaboration with UEFA, aims to break down socio-cultural barriers – the root cause of inequality and exclusion in sport, as in life – by 2030, through the “Football is Inclusion” project. “Football for all is possible and the FSGC intends to embark on a journey which, although it should be the norm, will require commitment, effort, dedication and passion,” commented Fabio Lepri, Head of the Football Inclusion project. “All qualities that our youngsters already have. It will be up to us to create the right conditions to help them express their potential with the greatest possible autonomy and responsibility.” Starting from the 2022-23 season, two programmes will be launched, with the aim of bringing boys and girls with cognitive and relational disabilities closer to football, in full respect of the values of fairness and equality. The two strands of activity will be managed and delivered by qualified FSGC staff, in close connection with other key educational agencies and internal and external stakeholders. The project will include integrated football activities and inclusive football activities, and is aimed at boys and girls born between 2006 and 2017 – also involving the men’s and women’s teams of the San Marino Academy, as well as the grassroots Football Hubs.
