San Marino Championship - 28 August 2025

League, 2025-26 season kicks off this weekend

Everything is now ready for the start of the new Campionato Sammarinese season. Matchday One will be spread over three days, with some very intriguing clashes right from the outset. That is certainly the case for Virtus-La Fiorita, the only fixture scheduled for Sunday 31st at 17:30. The match – initially set for Saturday 30th – was postponed due to the Neroverdi’s UEFA Europa Conference League commitment this evening under coach Luigi Bizzotto. Virtus come into the season as defending champions, further strengthened by a transfer window that has made them even more the team to beat, while the path of La Fiorita will begin uphill, as they start on minus five points following registration irregularities relating to last season. Stefano Ceci remains on the Gialloblù bench, with the transfer market bringing to Montegiardino high-profile signings such as forward Umberto Nappello and defender Francesco Golia, as well as familiar faces in the league – and former Gialloblù – Tommaso Guidi and Lorenzo Dormi.

As mentioned, the league will kick off on Friday evening with four games scheduled for 21:15. The Montecchio showdown between Tre Penne and Fiorentino promises to be a great spectacle. The Biancoazzurri from Città – still led by Nicola Berardi – have operated extremely well in the transfer market thanks to sporting director Luca Bollini, who has managed to bring back prolific striker Imre Badalassi in Biancoazzurro, as well as former Cosmos players Errico, Loiodice and Pastorelli, plus San Marino international forward Filippo Berardi. Fiorentino, coached by Fabrizio Costantini, have also been very active, securing the return in Rossoblù of an excellent striker in Mohamed Ben Kacem, who has left Cosmos.

Also on Friday, San Giovanni and Juvenes-Dogana will meet in Acquaviva (21:15). Both squads have been heavily reshaped by the transfer market, with several former players on both sides: D’Angeli and Tumidei pulled on the Rossoneri shirt over the summer, while Juvenes-Dogana – under new head coach Riccardo Boldrini – have brought in Aprea, Ghiggini, Stefano Sartini and Nicola Sartini. There have also been plenty of changes and new faces for Murata and Faetano, who will go head-to-head on Friday evening in Domagnano, again at 21:15. There is a new face on the Gialloblù bench as well: following the departure of Patrizio Morini, the club have recently confirmed Tiziano Spartera. Murata, on the other hand, have retained Michele Camillini, but the Bianconeri will begin the season with a nine-point deduction, again due to registration irregularities relating to last year.

Rounding off Friday night’s programme, Libertas and San Marino Academy Under 22 will take to the field in Dogana (kick-off 21:15).

The Granata resume under coach Samuele Buda and after a transfer campaign that has revamped the squad with no fewer than 19 new players. Among the new arrivals, the standout is the return of forward Osayande, who last season scored an extraordinary goal from the halfway line just seconds after kick-off.

The Academy, meanwhile, have a new head coach. After Matteo Cecchetti’s two-year spell, the young Titans will be led by Roberto Di Maio, fresh from an excellent season in charge of the Under-16s.

There will be three games on Saturday, all scheduled for 17:30. The match clou is in Acquaviva, where Cosmos take on Tre Fiori. There are many new faces at the Serravalle club, again coached this season by Andy Selva, starting with the return to the league of Bojan Gjurchinoski – formerly of Tre Fiori. Alongside the Croatian forward is Luca Ceccaroli, arriving from Tre Penne to form an experienced and high-quality strike partnership. At Tre Fiori, Girolomoni remains at the helm and has managed to keep together the core of last season’s squad. Among the new signings in defence is Alex Sirri, who will stay for the entire season after his experience in the Conference League with the Gialloblù. Also at 17:30, Folgore and Cailungo will meet in Montecchio. The Giallorossoneri, with Lasagni confirmed on the bench, are looking to raise the bar after last year’s positive campaign. Up front, to partner Crystal Ball winner Samuel Pancotti, Augusto Garcia Rufer has arrived from San Giovanni. From the Rossoneri, midfielders De Nicolò and Azael Garcia Rufer have also joined. There are plenty of renewals and a few new additions at Cailungo, still under the technical guidance of Roberto Sarti.

Pennarossa and Domagnano will instead do battle on the synthetic pitch in Domagnano (Saturday 30/8 at 17:30). Both the Biancorossi and the Giallorossi will have new head coaches: Pennarossa begin a new cycle under Adrian Ricchiuti, while at Domagnano there is a return to the Campionato Sammarinese for Manuel Amati (formerly of Juvenes-Dogana). The match will also be broadcast on FIFA+, the international federation’s streaming platform, which is thus renewing the agreement signed with the FSGC last season.
