League: Pennarossa, three precious points. La Fiorita, Domagnano and Fiorentino also shine

After the international break, the Campionato Sammarinese resumed this evening with the early kick-offs of Matchday 27. In the four matches played, the most valuable and important win goes to Pennarossa, who beat Cailungo 2-1 to relaunch their play-off hopes. At the “Ezio Conti” in Dogana, Macerata’s Biancorossi kept a clean sheet in the first half thanks to some fine saves from Filippo Tordella, before finding the decisive breakthrough after the restart. On returning from the dressing rooms, Pennarossa came out much better and within a few minutes established a two-goal lead. Only eighty seconds had elapsed when a pinpoint long ball from Santi out of defence reached Pintore, who with a decisive touch skipped past Francioni and slotted home for 1-0. Four minutes later the scorer turned provider, bursting down the left before, on reaching the edge of the box, laying the ball off to Gregori, who chose a precise right-footed shot that caught Francioni out. Cailungo reacted too late, with Bua finding the net two minutes from time after a prolonged attacking move. It was not enough for the Rossoverdi to avoid a seventh straight defeat. Instead it is smiles for the Biancorossi from Chiesanuova, now just one point behind San Giovanni, who currently occupy the last play-off place. The Rossoneri in fact fell in Fiorentino to La Fiorita, who ran out deserving 3-0 winners. The start was clearly gialloblù, with La Fiorita striking twice in the opening quarter of an hour. Mazzotti broke the deadlock on 11 minutes, meeting Cicarelli’s cross from the right with a fine header, before Jacopo Semprini beat Casadei (14’) with a powerful right-footed strike from inside the area. La Fiorita kept pressing after the break, going close to a third on several occasions. Their persistence was rewarded around the hour mark, when Ceci’s side effectively wrapped up the contest. Guidi managed to force his way through – with a bit of luck as well – and the ball broke on the edge of the area to Semprini, who slipped an elegant pass to Affonso. The latter, from close range, squared for Guidi, who could not miss with the goal gaping. La Fiorita thus claim the win and, thanks to this result, climb to fourth place while waiting for Folgore, who play on Wednesday evening. Behind Falciano’s side, Domagnano and Fiorentino also close the gap, having got the better of Faetano and San Marino Academy respectively. The goal that proves decisive for Amati’s Giallorossi is a real gem: on 14 minutes Renzi heads clear a cross from the left, the loose ball falls to Greco, who sets himself and unleashes a splendid first-time right-footed volley. Faetano tried on several occasions, but Papi and his team held firm. Domagnano were unable to find a second goal, but the single strike was enough for the Wolves to return to winning ways. It is yet another defeat for Sperindio, with his Faetano now effectively out of the play-off race. Fiorentino also win, their third success in the last four. Costantini can therefore be pleased, having been presented before the match in Montecchio against the Academy with the award for Coach of the Month for March. The game started at a blistering pace, and after just two minutes came a coming-together in the box between Borasco – today between the sticks for the Titani and starting for the first time since the reverse fixture against Fiorentino – and Ben Kacem, which resulted in a penalty for Fiorentino. Abouzziane stepped up and made no mistake from the spot. The Academy reacted and grew into the game, threatening Benedettini on several occasions, such as in the 23rd minute when the goalkeeper twice denied Righi in quick succession. The San Marino shot-stopper was then decisive again on 33 minutes, beating away a close-range effort from Markaj. At the other end, Borasco was also in fine form, pulling down the shutters on a brilliant solo run from Ben Kacem. Just after the hour mark, Fiorentino produced the decisive surge and in the space of a minute effectively killed off the game. On 65 minutes there was a second penalty for the Rossoblù (foul by Federico Ciacci on Tosse), which Ben Kacem duly converted. Just seconds later, the former Cosmos striker was at it again with yet another powerful run down the flank, capped by an assist for Gjonaj, who made it three from close range. It was a miserable evening for the Academy, who in stoppage time came very close to a consolation goal, first through Molinari and then Mattia Ciacci, but Benedettini and his team held out once more. In Montecchio, Fiorentino win 3-0 and extend their unbeaten run to four matches. Another setback for Di Maio’s Titani, who are also out of post-season contention.
