Titano Futsal Cup, first legs of the Round of 16: narrow win for Libertas, La Fiorita run riot
As expected, Libertas v Faetano turned out to be the tightest match on the card for the first legs of the Titano Futsal Cup Round of 16. After the opening 60 minutes of the two-legged tie there is only one goal separating Selva’s and Levani’s sides: the one scored by Michelotti for Libertas midway through the second half. In the return leg Faetano will have to win at all costs, but will be unable to rely on Conti and coach Selva, both sent off in a fiery finale. The margins were far wider in the other games on the night. La Fiorita virtually secure their place in the next round, hitting double figures against San Giovanni who, after replying through Gracik to the early Gialloblù brace from Gualandi and Bologna, are swept away by Pietrangeli’s men: Bologna and Gualandi are back on the scoresheet to complete their braces, then Cecchini (also with a brace), Giuccioli, Matteo Chezzi, Raschi and Tassitano all get in on the act. Scoring half as many but still putting one foot firmly in the Final Eight are Cosmos, who confirm the excellent form shown in the league by taking control of the first half of their tie with Cailungo. The deadlock is broken after just over a quarter of an hour: Cerquetti opens the score, which is then rounded off by a Bacciocchi brace and second-half goals from Ceccaroli and the inevitable Molinas. Virtus also score five, but unlike Cosmos they do not keep a clean sheet. With Morini and Belloni making it 2-0, Folgore pull one back through Molari, but then have to concede again to Belloni as well as to Dolcini and Mattia Cavalli. Another Cavalli, William, accounts for half of the attacking output of Juvenes-Dogana, who open up an excellent advantage in the first half of their tie with Tre Penne. Cellarosi’s men (he is facing his former club) win 4-0, a scoreline built on braces from the aforementioned Cavalli and from Simone Celli. There are also four goals separating Tre Fiori and Domagnano. The latter open the scoring on 7 minutes through Villa, with Casadei replying almost immediately. The Wolves restore their lead through Vagnini, who is then joined on the scoresheet by team-mate Filippo Dolcini. Right after the restart Felici pull Tre Fiori back into it, but they lose a lot of ground in the latter stages: the gap is stretched to 6-2 by another goal from Filippo Dolcini, one from his brother Davide and one from Pascucci. In the other match of the evening, Pennarossa beat Fiorentino 7-4, who only react after going 4-0 down to goals from Toccaceli, Tamagnini, Ceccoli and Verri. Bernardi pulls one back and then also replies to Verri’s 5-1. Moroni tries to keep Rossoblù hopes alive, only for them to be dashed again by a strike from Stefanelli. Fiorentino’s final surge comes from captain Righi, before Pennarossa definitively seal the first-leg win with Toccaceli’s second of the night.
