UEFA GROW: Bronzetti and Nardoni in Lisbon for a conference on financial aspects and human resources
A new appointment with the workshops organised by UEFA GROW, the internal arm of the European football confederation responsible for the development of European football associations. After the event focused on Marketing and Communication last February in Budapest, in recent days – in Lisbon – another meeting on financial dimension and human resources management took place. Representing the FSGC in the various sessions were Filippo Bronzetti (Treasurer) and Andrea Nardoni (in his capacity as Administrative Coordinator).
Starting from a number of topics addressed in the plenary session, delegates were also involved in specific pathways for the finance stream and the human resources stream. The two days of work were opened by the presentation of the case study of the Portuguese Football Federation, focusing in particular on the allocation of human and financial resources in order to pursue the objectives set out in the organisation’s strategic plan. An overview entrusted to Francesc Solanellas and Brendan Murray – Heads of the Finance and HR sections within UEFA GROW – introduced the breakdown of the workshop programme.
With regard to the financial topics, emphasis was placed on the increasingly crucial relationship with IT systems. There was also discussion of gender equality, as well as elements linked to national tax regimes – from the federations’ perspective. As for the human resources programme, analysis of UEFA’s Succession Plan (the long-term strategy for transferring leadership roles) effectively opened the dedicated sectoral presentations. Among these were federal policies to prevent and punish any abuse (verbal, physical or psychological), as well as tools and strategies for developing a shared corporate identity. Naturally, in the field of human resources, the topic of gender equality was also thoroughly explored, along with staff training programmes.
A round table, which also featured contributions from Andrea Traverso (UEFA Financial Sustainability & Research Director) and Simon Kuper (Journalist and author at the Financial Times), effectively brought the two days of work in the Portuguese capital to a close.
