BKN301 Championship: double leap to the top slips away as La Fiorita wins in the 90’+4’
In the first four early matches of Matchday 10 there were just as many wins for the leading sides, but only Cosmos can really say they banked the three points with relative ease. Berardi’s men struck Fiorentino twice in each half, with a first-half brace from Prandelli – who draws level with Ben Kacem at the top of the scoring charts on seven goals. Two quick-fire strikes that broke the deadlock and all but sealed the gialloverdi’s victory. First he timed his run perfectly to the near post to meet Pastorelli’s assist, then he followed up with a winning tap-in after a shot by Docente. After the break, Loiodice made no mistake with the second generous assist from Pastorelli, who then also got on the scoresheet by turning in Zulli’s pinpoint cross from the left flank.
Tre Fiori also took all three points, with a late scare. After a goalless first half they went ahead from a set piece. From the inside-left channel Gjurchinoski bent in a perfect delivery for Adami Martins’ header, which he met superbly, giving Colonna no chance. The key episode came in the Domagnano box and effectively wrapped up the game, as Faetanini was sent off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Specifically, he held back Traini – who had done well to shake off his marker with a chest control that put him in position to shoot from close range. The lanky Tre Fiori striker took responsibility for the penalty that made it 2-0 on 75 minutes. A man and two goals down, Domagnano still did not throw in the towel and in fact stayed in the contest to the end – pulling one back in chaotic fashion on 81 minutes. An aerial challenge between Semprini and Babboni sent the ball looping towards Bacchiocchi, who fired at the unguarded net, finding a crucial touch from Zonzini – in a borderline position. It was a proud reaction from Domagnano, but in the remaining ten minutes they were unable to complete a comeback that would have been sensational.
Cosmos and Tre Fiori were joint leaders right up until the final moments of the parallel match in Montecchio, where La Fiorita fell behind against Pennarossa at the start of the second half. Credit to the strike partnership of Ben Kacem and Stefanelli: the former created and laid it on, the latter beat Vivan – who had initially been due to start on the bench but was drafted into the XI after Venturini picked up a problem in the warm-up, which also delayed kick-off. The reigning champions equalised through Gasperoni, who was later sent off for a second yellow card in the 76th minute. Despite being down to ten men, Oscar Lasagni’s side landed the decisive blow in stoppage time: Grassi played a vertical ball for Vitaioli, whose effort was kept out by the reflexes of his national team-mate Benedettini. Bartolini, a seasoned penalty-box predator, pounced on the rebound and slammed home for the final 2-1 in the 90’+4’. A positive result on debut against the league leaders slipped away at the death for Massimo Gori, appointed during the week to replace Farabegoli.
Things did not go much better for Sperindio, who had taken charge of Libertas a few days earlier. The Granata played last night in Montecchio against Tre Penne, who claimed victory thanks to Lorenzo Dormi. Early on, after Libertas had squandered a huge chance in the very first minute, the former Folgore playmaker headed in from a corner to score the only goal of the game. That it remained the only one was down to the lack of accuracy from the forwards of both sides – wasteful and not sharp enough in front of goal. The only major save came from Migani, who in the 70th minute shut the door on Aruci’s run, but there were many more chances that went begging for both teams. All the better for Tre Penne, top of the table for one night and able to keep pace with those who – after Saturday’s fixtures – are ahead of them in the standings.
Goals, on the other hand, came in abundance in Folgore-Cailungo, the game that wrapped up the early fixtures of Matchday 10 in the BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese. Both captains found the net in the opening quarter of an hour, but while Piscaglia’s celebrations were cut short by an offside call against the Folgore defender, Iuzzolino’s tap-in put Cailungo ahead on 17 minutes. Pollini’s heroics counted for nothing: he had managed to tip Senja’s inch-perfect free-kick onto the post. It was a brief joy for the Rossoverdi, who were pegged back and then overtaken before half-time: Santoni levelled from the spot after a foul by Iuzzolino on Bernardi. The San Marino forward, who has long been used by Lepri in the back line with good returns, then completed the turnaround by rising highest to head in Santoni’s corner. After the interval Cailungo went down to ten men when Iuzzolino was sent off, having previously been booked for the foul that led to the 1-1 penalty. Folgore needed just two minutes to make the most of the advantage and virtually seal the win with a strike from former player Urbinati, who chose not to celebrate after scoring against his old club. Deep into added time, Lepri’s men added a fourth through Giardi, who did well to tuck away a loose ball in the heart of the penalty area.
