Facilities: extraordinary restoration works at Acquaviva on Wednesday

The effects of two floods have taken a heavy toll – too heavy – on the playing surface of the Acquaviva Stadium, which has unfortunately been hit by debris and residue overflowing from the ditch located outside the designated pitch area, where the FSGC has neither jurisdiction nor the possibility to intervene directly. As is well known, the capacity of the ditch was not sufficient to cope with the abnormal flow of water. Soil, branches, pebbles and dirt ended up damaging the artificial turf which – despite an initial and immediate cleaning operation – has inevitably compromised the regular efficiency of the drainage system. In this respect, an extraordinary intervention is scheduled for Wednesday to restore the pitch to a satisfactory performance level. These are not the only works planned on San Marino’s facilities, which the FSGC keeps under constant review. In particular, at Domagnano, in the coming weeks the half of the pitch on the side opposite the changing rooms will be completely re-turfed, with the aim of resolving once and for all the long-standing and almost chronic subsidence issues that have always affected this facility, despite several interventions carried out over the past few years. Finally, an update on the progress of works at the Serravalle B sports complex. Works are proceeding regularly, with a reassessment of the delivery times in light of the rescheduling made necessary in recent years by the increase in the market price of raw materials and the lengthy safety procedures required after the discovery of an unexploded bomb underground. The new football stadium is expected to be completed in around a year’s time, while the Futsal Arena will require a few months more patience.
