Futsal: Domagnano fall to Fiorentino, inspired by Paoloni

It’s a very bitter start to 2026 for Domagnano. The Wolves go down 2-1 to Fiorentino, who are no longer bottom of the Single Group but now third from last, level on points with Faetano, while waiting for the Gialloblù to take to the court this evening against San Giovanni – the side with whom Screti’s men shared 4 points up until yesterday afternoon. The first of the two late fixtures on Matchday 16 struggles to catch fire. Domagnano look to impose themselves with high pressure and it is in this way that Giovanni Righi tests Serafini’s reflexes, Fiorentino’s very latest signing. The goalkeeper – a former Domagnano player – responds smartly with his foot. The first big chance for Screti’s side comes from a fine move down the flank between Para and Zaghini: the first releases the second, who makes the most of the space to unleash a right-footed effort that crashes against the post. At the other end, Menghi picks out Pascucci at the far post, but his close-range finish is miscued. Muraccini has to preserve the 0-0 scoreline by turning away Paoloni’s free-kick – not particularly in the corner – and then coming out on top in a one-on-one with Zaghini, who had gone through on goal after a careless throw-in by the Giallorossi. It is precisely Giacomo Muraccini, on the stroke of half-time, who starts the move that leads to Domagnano’s opener. Hidri receives from his goalkeeper and lifts the ball into the area of Righi, who lays it back to him with perfect weight and timing: Hidri does the rest by stabbing the ball past the onrushing Serafini with the tip of his boot.

After the restart Zaghini immediately tries his luck again, but his left-footed swivel effort (from a tight angle) goes wide. Serafini gets a boot to Hidri’s venomous free-kick, shortly before Fiorentino draw level through Paoloni, who meets Para’s first-time pass, capitalises on a ricochet off Muraccini and then scores into an empty net. Para is involved again, finishing off a neat one-two with Moroni, who goes clean through on Muraccini but is denied by the goalkeeper, helped out by Giovanni Righi. Shortly afterwards, a huge double chance falls to Domagnano, once again on the Menghi-Hidri axis. In the first instance, the Giallorossi captain breaks away on the counter and squares across the face of goal for his team-mate at the far post, but Hidri is denied by the woodwork; the move continues, Menghi wins the ball back high up the court and again looks for Hidri, who squanders what is effectively a penalty in open play, firing over. These are, in effect, the sliding doors moments of the match. Having survived that scare, Fiorentino grow in confidence. Paoloni rehearses his brace with a right-footed strike from outside the area that Muraccini diverts behind for a throw-in. Then, on 60 minutes, the number 5 in red and blue wins a challenge and unleashes a right-footer that flies perfectly into the top corner. Before that moment, Domagnano had also had two good opportunities. The first comes from a piece of wing play by Faetanini, who beats his man and delivers a pass that Davide Dolcini is unable to turn into gold. The second stems from a short free-kick to Hidri, who gets the better of Serafini but not of Claudio Righi, stationed on the left-hand post. Having completed the comeback, Fiorentino dig in during the very little time remaining, which Domagnano try to exploit to the full by bringing on the flying goalkeeper – without success. Gasperoni’s side fall again after their late-2025 exploit against Pennarossa. Fiorentino, on the other hand, return to winning ways for the first time since 27 October, and do so in a week in which two of their direct rivals – San Giovanni and Faetano – are guaranteed to take points off each other.
