Futsal: Folgore mean business, La Fiorita move up to third
Folgore’s win over Tre Penne looks very much like a maturity test passed with flying colours. Zonzini’s boys confirm – and indeed enhance – their magic moment by claiming the scalp of one of the top sides in the league, who slip down to fourth place as a direct consequence of last night’s defeat. It was an uphill start for Penserini’s team, who on 10 minutes found themselves behind after a Gabrielli own goal and five minutes later conceded the second, scored by Muccioli. Sabatino halved the deficit eight minutes into the second half, but that episode did not provide the launchpad for a comeback, which never materialised despite Tre Penne’s man advantage midway through the second half (Ottaviani sent off for a second yellow). For the Giallorossoneri it is a fourth win in the last five outings, which allows them to keep chasing fifth-placed Pennarossa and gives them far more than a few guarantees with respect to chasers Cosmos and Domagnano, now some way back. By contrast, Zonzini’s side cannot feel quite so safe when it comes to Juvenes Dogana, who edge past Cailungo and stay right on the heels of their “cousins”. Cellarosi’s men make it two wins in a row thanks to a goal from Rossini, on target in the 10th minute of the first half. Cailungo’s three-match winning streak comes to an end, but they lose no ground either on those ahead – Domagnano – or on those behind – Faetano. The latter were idle, while the Wolves went down 4-1 to Murata. The leaders opened the scoring on 3 minutes through Mattioli, who would later wrap it up in the second half after Busignani’s goal and Vagnini’s own goal. In the meantime Domagnano had managed to bring it back to 2-1 through Sensoli, who on 34 minutes pounced on Protti’s save from Hidri’s penalty and beat the Bianconeri keeper from point-blank range.
It is a second defeat on the bounce for Domagnano, and a third in a row for Tre Fiori, who go down 3-2 to Pennarossa. The Biancorossi went in front through Tamagnini, and the Gialloblù replied late in the first half with Casadei. On 39 minutes Severi completed a comeback that would remain only partial. Verri levelled it up and, on the hour, Brighi struck the winner to complete the counter-comeback that allows the Chiesanuova side to get back on track after three straight defeats and, at least for now, to keep an increasingly dangerous Folgore at arm’s length. Above Pennarossa – as mentioned – things have changed. Tre Penne surrender third place to La Fiorita, level on points with the side from Città but clearly ahead on head-to-head record. While Tre Penne are going through a minor crisis (two defeats in a row), another side, Montegiardino’s, offer further proof that they are fully back in shape. Pietrangeli’s men make it three wins in a row by beating Fiorentino 4-2. Yet the Rossoblù had moved into a 2-0 lead, with goals from Paoloni on 13 minutes and Para on the quarter-hour mark. But it was an illusion destined to evaporate. Serafini’s own goal in the closing stages of the first half triggered a Gialloblù comeback that was completed by Bernardi’s brace and a goal from Pellegrini, who made it 3-2 at the time. At the death Fiorentino’s evening got even worse with Righi’s red card, shown shortly before the final whistle. And their league position remains complicated as well, all the more so because the play-off line moves up another notch, given the draw between Libertas and Cosmos. The match at the Multieventi ends 1-1: Granata in front through Giorgetti (23’) and the Gialloverdi reply via Cerquetti (51’). Just off the summit, Virtus return to winning ways after a draw and a defeat and tighten their grip on second place, taking advantage of Tre Penne’s poor spell. The scoreline is clear-cut: 5-0 against San Giovanni, with braces from Cavalli and Morini plus a single goal from Cevoli, who opened the scoring after just three minutes of play.
