Futsal: Pennarossa-Tre Fiori, part two. Fiorentino test for Tre Penne

A bumper week of futsal is on the way, with Monday devoted to Matchday 5 of the league and Thursday reserved for the second legs of the cup Round of 16. Looking at tomorrow, runaway leaders Virtus, having escaped danger last Monday, intend to continue sailing along with a perfect record. Michelotti’s men will chase a fifth win in five, and that target goes via the Cailungo test, with the Rossoverdi on a three-game unbeaten run and currently sitting in mid-table. One point behind them are Juvenes-Dogana, who on Wednesday avoided what would have been a third league defeat, against Fiorentino, but are still searching for the extra gear needed to climb to more prestigious positions in the table. Standing in the way of Levani’s side will be one of the most in-form teams of the moment, namely Murata, who have started scoring for fun and, just like Domagnano, their table neighbours, intend to keep the pressure on leaders Virtus, who are two points ahead. For the Biancorossoazzurri, Simone Celli will be missing, suspended for one game by the Sports Judge. Libertas and Cosmos are the only two teams still completely without points. And tomorrow they meet: this sort of “play-off” to leave the foot of the table – also taking into account Faetano’s rest day, with their single point – will be played in Dogana, the same venue that at 20:15 will host the first of this week’s two clashes between Pennarossa and Tre Fiori. The two sides have already met in the first leg of the cup Round of 16 and will do so again on Thursday in the return. In the meantime, Pennarossa will be aiming to repeat what they did on 10 October, when they claimed a clear 4-1 win. Luca Pollini is naturally hoping for the opposite, but must cope without Zanotti (sent off against Domagnano) and, above all, with a negative run that has seen the Gialloblù lose all of their last four outings, cup included. Pennarossa are close behind the direct play-off places, currently occupied by La Fiorita who, together with Virtus, are the only two sides still on maximum points. Traviglia’s men, however, have 9 points to their name, having already observed their rest day, and now set their sights on San Giovanni, who need to change pace after two straight defeats and will be without goalkeeper Valentini, sent off against Murata. After their rest day, Folgore are ready to return to the court against Domagnano. The Giallorossoneri are chasing a victory that has eluded them since their opening fixture (their only win so far under Zonzini), while the Wolves – currently second in the table level on points with Murata – are still unbeaten in the league and targeting a third successive win, and fourth overall. Coach Fabio Gasperoni will have to do without the suspended Villa. The match will be played on the Multieventi court. After the defeat to La Fiorita, which blemished what had been a perfect start (three wins from three), Tre Penne are looking for an immediate reaction against reigning champions Fiorentino, who are currently a little off the pace in the standings (four points, the same as Juvenes-Dogana and Folgore, and five fewer than the Biancoazzurri from Città), but on the up again (one win and one draw, plus a cup victory) in their last three games since their opening-day loss. With Faetano on their rest day, Matchday 5 does not include any fixtures postponed to a later date. Here is the full Monday league programme: Click here for the updated table
