Futsal: a Monday of big clashes ahead, with Tre Penne-Virtus standing out

A Monday devoted entirely to Matchday 20 of the futsal league promises high drama. That, at least, is what emerges from a glance at the fixtures and the current standings. The only apparent exception could be the top-versus-bottom clash between San Giovanni and Murata, scheduled in the first time slot of the Dogana evening, at 20:15. Apart from a couple of hiccups in the first half of the season, the reigning champions are travelling at full speed and are further driven on by the small gap separating them from Tre Penne – as well as, of course, by the very special head‑to‑head awaiting the team currently second in the table. At the opposite end, bottom side San Giovanni have only four points in the bag and have seen the teams ahead of them edge further away, with a very real risk of dropping out of the post‑season race far too early. To make coach Palermino’s plans even more complicated, they lost two key men – Volpinari and Magalotti – sent off in the turbulent finale of their last outing. Also in Dogana, but at 21:45, Libertas and Faetano will go head to head in a very tight contest, with the Gialloblù currently three points ahead of the Granata. The reverse fixture was a spectacular game, won 5-4 by Faetano. Selva’s side are overall going through a good spell, even if they have just stalled after two wins on the bounce. The Gialloblù’s mission is to immediately reconnect with that winning streak, whereas Libertas have another run behind them – and a far more negative one: seven defeats in a row. The cushion built up in the first part of the season is, for now, keeping the Granata out of troubled waters, but not at a safe distance, given that Tre Fiori, the first team outside the play-off spots, sit just one point behind. The good news for Levani, however, is that Tre Fiori are idle this round and so, should Libertas take something from the game, the gap would grow. It is equally true that a win could bring huge benefits also in light of the delicate encounter between Cailungo and Fiorentino, sides that share the same “neighbourhood” of the table as Libertas. The Rossoverdi have firmly relaunched their campaign after beating San Giovanni and are now aiming to move further away from the danger zone. A zone where Fiorentino still reside, although they are determined to seize a hugely inviting opportunity, as three points would guarantee Screti’s men move above Tre Fiori, as well as offering a very realistic chance to significantly reduce the gap to the teams currently on course for the play‑offs.

This will be the only indoor match of the entire round, staged at the Multieventi. In Fiorentino – at 21:45 – Tre Penne and Virtus will take centre stage. And how could it be otherwise: the clash between the second- and third‑placed sides in the Single Group – separated by just two points – promises great entertainment, also considering the sparkling form of both contenders. The quarrel between the two could benefit Murata but also La Fiorita who, after their rest round, will resume action more determined than ever to make up for the painful defeat to Faetano. This, too, is a match that deserves attention – and it will be played at 21:45 in Domagnano. Pietrangeli’s men are aiming to close the gap on second and third place, but also to keep Pennarossa at a respectful distance, as the Biancorossi are not yet resigned to the idea of missing out on the top four. But beware the qualities of Juvenes Dogana, who lost to Tre Penne without looking out of place – far from it – and who desperately need to rediscover a win after three games without one, a basic requirement if they are to put pressure on Cosmos. The latter will be up against Pennarossa, also in Domagnano but at 20:15: two consecutive defeats have slowed the momentum of Franchino’s side (suspended, just like Francioni), although they can draw motivation from their excellent performance in the reverse fixture (a 3-3 draw, with Bacciocchi equalising deep into stoppage time) as they prepare to face a side, the Biancorossi, who have rediscovered their sparkle in this 2026, with three wins in their last three outings – plus a draw with La Fiorita. The other game of the evening pits Folgore and Domagnano against each other at 20:15 in Fiorentino. At present it is the Giallorossoneri who lead the way in the table between the two, sitting sixth, two points clear of Cosmos and nine ahead of ninth‑placed Domagnano. The Wolves are seeking consistency after a recent up‑and‑down spell in which they alternated wins and losses, the latest of those coming against Virtus. Folgore, on the other hand, come into this one off a draw and a big win, achieved at the expense of Faetano. Zonzini’s players will be intent on extending this positive run, leaving Domagnano to wrestle with the negative thoughts and the risk of seeing the league’s mid‑table line slip further away.
