Futsal: Super Cup 2024 final tomorrow

Fiorentino versus Folgore once again in a title-deciding final. The two teams that shared out last season’s silverware (Scudetto to Fiorentino, Titano Futsal Cup and Super Cup to Folgore) will meet again at the Multieventi for the 2024 Super Cup final. In the meantime, there have been plenty of changes in both squads and coaching staffs. This is evident even at the press conference table presenting the event, where the only familiar face is Claudio Zonzini, still firmly at the helm of Folgore. On the other side, there is now Gianni Galli in place of Matteo Michelotti, who in the meantime has moved to Virtus. "Last year’s finals are already filed away – assures Claudio Zonzini – We are no longer thinking about what happened then; we are fully focused on tomorrow’s match. There’s no doubt it will be a very tough test. We are also coming off the heavy workload of pre-season, which is primarily geared towards the imminent start of the league campaign. In addition, for various reasons, we have not been at full strength during this summer’s training period. However, for the last ten days we have been training very well, I must say. And tomorrow I will have everyone available. We hope it will be a great match." It will not be an absolute debut for Gianni Galli, who has already led Fiorentino in Europe, securing the first-ever victory by a San Marino club in the UEFA Futsal Champions League: "We had prepared very well for the Champions League, which gave us an unforgettable emotion. But we have already turned the page. Tomorrow will definitely be a battle, which in my opinion will be decided by key moments or small details. We will definitely give 100%, aware that these clashes can also be settled in the final minute." There is also a partial “new face” in Claudio Righi. Partial, because in the past he has been both player and captain of Fiorentino. Then came a short break, during which he covered a different role within the rossoblù staff. This year he has decided to lace up his boots again. "For me, coming back is a source of pride. Even before, I was in close contact with the team, but in a different capacity, for personal reasons. Now I have decided to put myself back on the line to try to help the team. We come off an unusual summer, with many changes in the squad and in the coaching staff. But Fiorentino’s ambitions remain very high. Tomorrow we will try to get the maximum." Among the few players confirmed in the Folgore squad is Andrea Pelliccioni, by now a veteran of the giallorossoneri despite an identity card that shows 2001 as his year of birth. This year, his long-standing loyalty to the cause will be rewarded with the captain’s armband. "I am very happy with this achievement, which is a sort of culmination of many years with the team. The captain’s armband brings strong emotions and also responsibilities. The team has changed a lot, but I think the club has worked very well this summer. Only two of us remain from the old group, but the new players are very young and eager to do well. Maybe we lack a bit of experience, but we will make up for that. I can’t wait to play my first match as captain." This will be Folgore’s ninth consecutive final. Part of this run – the latest stretch – is down to the work of Claudio Zonzini: "This long series of finals is a great source of pride for this club. I have only been involved in three of them, and tomorrow’s will be my fourth. The club had to rebuild the team and I think an excellent job has been done. They are all young lads, full of enthusiasm. They have been given the chance to start straight away with a trophy at stake: I hope they seize it by adding that extra something which is essential in a final." Gianni Galli also has Folgore in his past, albeit for a short spell. "I only spent three months at Folgore, but I have very fond memories of that period. Of course, tomorrow we will also be aiming to trip up our former team. It’s part of the game. The squad? Almost everyone is available. The only doubt concerns Morri, who will be assessed tomorrow. In any case, I will definitely bring him to the bench. Then we’ll see." Given the current weather conditions as well, the Multieventi Sport Domus once again proves to be much more than a simple organisational detail. "For several years now the finals have been played in the natural habitat of this sport – says Claudio Righi – that is, where it was born. This is a very important aspect and it is always a powerful emotion to be able to perform in front of a big crowd that drives you on." On the same wavelength is Andrea Pelliccioni: "These are the best matches of the season – for what is at stake, for the surface, and for the atmosphere. Playing in front of a large crowd is a huge motivation. Maybe not everyone in this team is used to it, but they will adapt quickly. I think it will be a really great final." So the appointment is at the Multieventi Sport Domus tomorrow evening at 21:00, with live streaming available on Titani.TV. Please note that stewards will be monitoring access to the stands, checking – in accordance with venue regulations – that the limit of 400 people is respected. Once this threshold is exceeded, any additional spectators will be directed to the upper level to watch the match from behind the glass. Finally, please note that for the above-mentioned fixtures, regulations regarding prohibited items – such as glass bottles – will be in force. Anyone in possession of such items will not be allowed access to the stands. Admission to the two matches will be completely free.
