Futsal: Tre Fiori go through, smooth progress for Fiorentino, Folgore and La Fiorita
Domagnano’s comeback against Tre Fiori does not materialise, while Fiorentino, Folgore and La Fiorita all advance without issues. This is the summary of the second legs of the quarter-finals of the Campionato Sammarinese futsal play-offs, played last night on the Titan and which have now set up the two semi-finals.
The tightest tie was the one between Domagnano and Tre Fiori – and it did not disappoint. Manuel Mussoni’s side had to win, due to their lower ranking in the regular season compared with Alex Bugli’s team. Right at the end of the first half the Giallorossi had a chance to break the deadlock, but Manuel Bollini missed a 10-metre free-kick. At the start of the second half, however, the precious opener arrived, signed by Giovanni Marcucci after a solo move. Tre Fiori refused to give in and soon found the equaliser through Paolo Verri (45'), who from close range effectively put the Gialloblù back in front in terms of qualification. The closing minutes were frantic: first, on 50 minutes, Davide Dolcini was sent off, yet Domagnano held on even a man down. The Giallorossi’s big opportunity came in the final stages when Danny Gasperoni was shown a red card, but despite being a man down it was the Gialloblù who took the lead, as Andrea Cappelli exploited Domagnano’s flying goalkeeper and scored the 2-1 from the halfway line. The end of the match was even more heated, with red cards for Villa and Bollini among the Giallorossi and for Gialloblù coach Alex Bugli (the latter, like Gasperoni, will definitely miss the first leg of the semi-final).
Tre Fiori will therefore face reigning champions Folgore in the bottom half of the bracket, after Folgore had little trouble in yesterday’s derby against Juvenes-Dogana. Building on their 6-1 first-leg win, Spada’s side also cruised to victory in the return leg with a clear 5-0. Two early goals for the Giallorossoneri came from Massimiliano Bernardi and Matteo Chezzi; after the break the scorers were Matteo Iuliani, Andrea Pelliccioni and Chezzi again, completing his brace.
The top half of the play-off bracket will see a semi-final between Fiorentino and La Fiorita. Fresh winners of the Titano Futsal Cup, Fiorentino were up against Libertas last night and started from a 9-2 first-leg advantage. Michelotti’s team recorded yet another victory, with a 3-0 over Penserini’s side to book their semi-final place. The Rossoblù went ahead in the first half through Andrea Ercolani, then doubled their lead at the start of the second period with Daniele Maiani, and wrapped it up from the penalty spot late on through Danilo Busignani. The only blot on Fiorentino’s night was the sending-off of Andrea Ceccoli in the 52nd minute.
Convincing win also for La Fiorita, who progress to the semi-final against Fiorentino. Davide Ghiotti’s side – already 6-0 up from a week ago – ran out emphatic winners again last night, beating Virtus 7-2. They went 2-0 up in the first half through Giacomo Bernardi and Andrea Franciosi, with the latter adding a third at the start of the second half. Bernardi then struck again for the fourth, before Sensoli pulled one back for the Neroverdi. In the closing stages Jacopo Giuccioli took centre stage, netting a quick-fire hat-trick, before Matteo Morganti scored the final goal to seal the match.
Attention now turns to the semi-finals, with the first legs scheduled for Tuesday 23 May and the return legs for Tuesday 30 May. All matches – including the finals – will be played at the Multieventi Sport Domus in Serravalle.
