Futsal: two head-to-head clashes in three days devoted to Matchday 16
There is a small anomaly affecting the second match night of 2026: it will be played for the first round of the second half of the season after, last Thursday, 14 of the 15 clubs had already taken to the court for the second round. In any case, this does not change the fact that the table is still being led by Murata, even if the Bianconeri have not yet managed to open up a real gap. Credit above all goes to Tre Penne, who continue to hope for a slip by their cousins, involved in the only indoor fixture on Monday, the Multieventi clash with Folgore. The latter go into this test against the reigning champions on the back of three straight wins, a run that could help Zonzini’s boys go above and beyond against an opponent who, for now, remain the team to beat. Literally, given that Murata are so far the only side yet to lose. Tre Penne, on the other hand, have been beaten once but are still right on the heels of Spada’s Bianconeri (just one point behind) and will also feature in Monday’s programme. Penserini’s men arrive with four consecutive victories and are chasing a fifth at the expense of Tre Fiori, whose recent form is a mirror image of the Biancoazzurri’s: four defeats in a row. That match will open the evening card at the Dogana pitch, which will then host the meeting between Pennarossa and Juvenes Dogana. There are plenty of reasons for interest, starting from the most immediate and prosaic ones related to the table, given that the two sides are separated by just a single point: 22 for Pennarossa, who have stopped their mini losing streak but have not won in three rounds; 21 for Juvenes Dogana, riding the momentum of two consecutive victories. However, this is not the only head-to-head clash that promises to liven up Matchday 16. Plenty of attention will also be on Faetano v San Giovanni, a duel between teams residing in the lower reaches of the table: a win would allow the Rossoneri to draw level with their opponents on the night and significantly boost their chances of booking a place in the post-season, even bearing in mind the very long stretch that still separates everyone from the end of the regular season. On the other side, two results out of three would be a blessing for Faetano, who come into this on the back of two defeats and have yet to find the spark needed to shift their focus to different areas of the table than those relating purely to the play-off battle. This will be the match that will effectively close Matchday 16: it will be played on Wednesday evening at the Multieventi.
Kick-off is at 22:00, the same as for Folgore-Murata and for Fiorentino-Domagnano, the first of the postponed fixtures, scheduled for Tuesday at the Acquaviva Sports Hall. The Lupi – who were idle last Thursday – are yet to make their 2026 debut. They come into it from the pre-Christmas win over Pennarossa, useful in relaunching their ambitions after a gloomy spell consisting of a draw followed by three defeats. On the other side, a Fiorentino side who have gone back to losing (twice) after drawing with San Giovanni and who aim to reap maximum benefit from the head-to-head clash between Faetano and San Giovanni. Back to Monday and the outdoor programme, Libertas v La Fiorita will be the first of the two matches in Fiorentino. The Montegiardino side have slightly eased off after their long winning streak but can take comfort from remaining fully in the leading group, level with Virtus, who currently sit ahead of them only on goal difference. The Granata, coached by former player Levani, are looking for a spark to shake off their crisis (four defeats in a row) and, of course, to revive a league position which currently sees them 10th, just one point above Cailungo and three above Faetano. The aforementioned Cailungo will wrap up the evening in Fiorentino together with Virtus. The Neroverdi are clearly on the up: they have three straight wins and have recently climbed into third place, also taking advantage of La Fiorita’s draw, with whom they share 32 points. In short, they are anything but a soft touch for Cailungo, who are currently out of the swampy waters of the single group but by no means safe, given that the first team outside the play-off spots, Tre Fiori, are only three points behind. It was precisely in the match with the Gialloblù that Cailungo claimed their last win, on 20 November: since then, just one draw in five games, the last two of which without scoring. Cosmos sit out this round, under virtual threat from Folgore (-2) and Pennarossa (-3).
